graphics jerk

So do I and it's still hard to get new drivers install correctly that's why I don't mess with them anymore.

Is this a continious jerk throughout the all games? I get jerks in certain games like FEAR, Condemned and NFSMW but these are clearly because I have 1gb; though some games I don't get it at all or just at the start of a new load.

I have the same motherboard and graphics card (sapphire in my case) and there are several options in the bios that you could try changing. For example, the PEG Link Mode settings affect the graphics card and I usually leave it disabled.

I'd also try running only 1x1gb stick in single channel mode and attempt to run the PC with minimum hardware attached; e.g. remove soundcards etc.

Also, when did this problem first start? You could try formatting and reinstalling windows.

Is it just Oblivion? Oblivion does jerk quite a bit, especially if you have plenty of mods installed and you're using high settings. It's mostly in the wilderness though, not cities. Is the jerking associated with hard-drive activity at all?

You could also check system information for anything sharing an IRQ with your video card.

Hard-drive defragged recently? Is your PC 100% virus/spyware free? Lots of unnecessary processes running? Tried shutting off your internet while running the game to see if that helps? Got anti-virus auto protection running (cause that can kill performance with some AV software) ? Got any programs running? Video card/CPU temps OK?

I've got no spyware/viruses, I'm using NOD32, HDD is defragged recently

temps are fine, i close stuff i dont need open.

and i donthave any mods installed..

Ok. How about the other stuff - IRQ sharing, AV auto-protection, and is it just Oblivion or all games?

@ Heartless_King

yep i experience those flickers with my x1900xtx, you know why that is and has it been addressed yet by ati?

Flicker is v coming amongst ATI's X1xxx series. Definately a ccc problem and something ATI is currently pushing under the carpet. I experience a few flickers a day, nothing major but just catches the eye.

Many people on other forums believe its a ccc problem and I happen to believe also. Nothing wrong with card just flickers now n then. Anyone else has this? I'm suprised hasn't come up b4?

King :)

I think its down to monitors/TFT's also, as i had a Hitachi TFT for about 5+ years that never once flickered, then when it died i got a Sony one, and i got the odd flickering straight away with the 6.7's, now im on 6.8's though its gone completely, so id guess its drivers/monitors/TFT's, i would have said just monitors/TFT's if i still had it under the 6.8's, but i don't get it in 6.8's at all, gone completely. :p

It notice it in WoW too, like when i'm running around and then turn with my mouse. The odd bit in Prey, but oblivion is the worse, unplayable :S

Jerking is normally caused by the following...

Souncard, onboard? try an external card or different drivers.

Bad Power supply.

IRQ conflicts/sharing.

Network cards (had terrible stutter with a Netgear wireless card)

PCI latency ( try reducing it in the bios to 64/32 etc)

Try and take out/uninstall all hardware/software you dont need. and try and narrow it down a bit.
