When I first came to England (I was 7), the first time I saw a grass snake ended in a bloody encounter. I thought all snakes over here were poisonous and repeatedly stamped on its head fearing it would attack my mum, grandmother and me. You should have seen my grandmothers face (I think it was the first time she had seen me 
) - in hindsight I shouldn't have done it but I have a huge fear of snakes.

I have had a friends Royal Python poo on me.
Almost tempted to remove my sig and put that in its place
Can't believe I've just sat here and watched a snake take a dump
As for grass snakes being a sign of no pollution well last weekend when I popped my head over the fence to check the outfall from our biotec (private sewerage plant) I was taken aback to be greeted by a very large grass snake in the dyke right there. I doubt the water that's being discharged is particularly unpolluted as it's full of rat-tailed larvae feeding on the effluent. I believe the snake was having the larvae for breakfast, when he saw me he quickly slid off into a hole in the side of the dyke.
We had a grass snake visit us a few weeks back, put the video up on youtube. It contains swearies so if you want to have a watch search for "snakes on a path". Not quite as big as yours but the vid shows my mate handling it

Seriously some netting over the pond will stop him getting in and he will bugger off elsewhere for munchies

The cage is often tripped and the bait gone, but no snake in the cage, how is it getting out?

What on earth possessed me to watch the first ten seconds of it? Had to snap out of it when I realised it was actually a snake having a turd.
