Travian really is soul destroying :(

I'm slowly getting out of it. Tried starting a new alliance in the latest UK speed server. That just collapsed when my second in command that I trusted to help run the alliance went off with half my members to LEG. Now I'm in Dynamo.

Someone IGM me from the OCUK alliance and I'll organise an alliance between us atleast :)

I think the setting up a new alliance thing was the last thing to try doing in the game so maybe I won't sign up for the next go... maybe. :(
 
Not that I've played oGame, but from what I've heard, the two are meant to be very similar (I think they may even be created by the same company)
 
Travian is much more fierce than ogame, people lose everything on Travian, only those with strong will and good tactics survive, sometimes not even those.
 
I played both, got destroyed within a few days after starting o-game, server 19.

Made it through server 1 of travian, after being at war with pa in the early days, eventually smartened up and joined them, made it through the server just fine, although had about 700,000 culture points left at the end, couldn't be bothered to make any more villages.

The game is awfully savage. I'm playing on s4.com at the moment. I've got people in my alliance who are getting months worth of work destroyed, it's the nature of the game. Even in the top alliance, you're still a target.

I'm currently managing 17 villages and it becomes a little time consuming but then you've got the fun on hitting players with a 25k+ offensive army :) (actually relatively small, 100k+ armies where roaming s4 months ago)

If anyone is wondering, it costs 914960 resources to level a crop field from 16 to 17 :eek:

wondering if any one could help me here ive been playing travien inbetween playing ogame ive only been on for a 3 days and someone has started to attack me the worse thing is hes my neighbor on the map so i havnt got time to build up any resources to make any sort of defence if i try to build up any kind of defence he sends over his army (around 440 macemen i think) so if anyone would like to send over a few soldiers to him to increase my chances of amounting a defence it would be greatly appreciated

hes on the speed server and his co-ordinates are -113/-91 (athens)

You have to build up troops and send them off to reinforce people you're allied with, once you've built up a decent force call them all back and surprise your neighbour.
 
If it is anything like the game I played, if you don't ally almost immediately you'll just be farmed to death.

I was constantly attacked, so much though I think I was 3rd for most defensive kills on the UK server at one point, eventually scrambling together a defense every few hours drove me to quit.
 
Build up crannies.

Once he starts getting zero resource then he will leave you be. Even think about demolishing your warehouse a bit if you can't build up crannies fast enough. Sounds kinda counter-intuitive, but once he starts getting zero resource from you he will soon give up raiding you.

Contact Petra ingame (use the IGM white pad thing). That's Horsey's account on speed (she ran the OcUK alliance on UK1). She will be able to give you a lot of helpful advice. You may even want to think about re-starting so that you start closer to where she is.

NB - I'm assuming that you are playing on the UK server (.co.uk) btw

Actually it's worth mentioning that the speed server is pretty hardcore.

If you are a beginner you might want to think about waiting for the restart on UK1 as the normal speed servers are less reliant on you being sat in front of a computer all day.
 
I joined Travian when it was first mentioned here last Feb, and I managed to give it up at the end of the year. Whilst it is good fun, it became so addictive and took up too much of my time I just had to stop. Had some fun with the neighbours in the last week though! :)
 
well last night i took the time to build up my cranny to lvl 10 so i should have enough recourses to build up my buildings before im attacked so with a bit of luck i can gain enough recouses etc to get a sizable army together and start returning the favour then i think ill start to think about taking on his clan i think (upd) :D
 
Be careful you don't annoy him. He's most likely raiding you purely for resources. Just cranny up so he gets bored of wasting his time on you. If you start attacking him, you'll annoy him so he'll start attacking you out of spite.

Get into an alliance too, even if it isn't highly ranked on the leader board. A tight group of players is far more deadly.
 
Who is farming you minizx.

And fred, are you playing on speed?

I thought that we could reform the old OcUK, not as OcUK but as something different ;)
