Great Browser Game - Travian

seems like a lot of us got hit last night :(

I got attacked in the only 3 hour window that I had troops in my camp when I was asleep. He had 15 imperatoris and 29 of my 30 maceman got slaughtered. not impressed still i suppose the upside is my wheat production took a healthy jump.

The combat simultor doesn't take into account the wall/hero bonus etc so maybe this would massively reduce the amount of troops needed to defend?

i bet the 'PLUS' combat sim does.. only a few quid.. awfully tempting.. gunna keep playing tonight, see if im into it.
 
I wonder if we could alliance with SPQR. I am right next to one of their highest members (Isanthes) and we are getting on pretty well and have a NAP. Also SPQR and OcUK are both already allianced with a common team PT&UK.

The attack was from a fellow Teuton who sent 62 Axemen ( I killed 1 :D )

With that result in mind ( i.e 62 attacked me / 1 killed ) i ran a Combat Simulation to see what defensive troops i would need to have killed all 62 Axemen.

( i gradually increased the troop numbers until the result came back at 62 attacked / 62 killed )



I would need 2200 troops to defeat a raiding party of 62 ! :eek:

To check it , i ran it again based on same troop i.e Axemen vs Axemen

Result ( 62 attack / 62 killed ) = I would need 3360 Axemen in defence :eek: / Cost = 437K - 404K - 572K - 235K ( Wood/Clay/Iron/Wheat )

Please tell me this is wrong because if it is correct i see no point at all in trying to defend.

In a raid its more about damage limitation. The two armies dont fight to the death like they do in a normal attack so each player will only loose a few troops unless you are defending with a substantially smaller force with poor defensive stats. Macemen and Axmen have very poor stats in defence against infantry so you would need loads of em to make a dent in a raiding force but 100 paladins would kill 55 out of 62 axemen making the attackers raid very costly and fruitless. In a normal attack 37 paladins would kill all 62. Throw in a Paladin hero with some points in defence and the defensive bonus from having a wall and any raiding infantry are gonna suffer badly.

If it was me i would send any troops with poor defensive stats away for the duration of the raid and let my cranny/defensive troops take care of it.

I actually have a PLUS account and looking at the combat sim it does indeed have options for city wall, hero etc. who knows excatly how it works though?
 
i have no idea about anything right now, i just poured most my resources into upgrading my wheat fields now realising i should have also upgraded the others :d now im going to have to wait donkeys to start upgrading things, got 2 clays upgraded, wait a little while for iron, then a little while longer and 1wood, and go from there :) west of me is completely deserted, the oasis have small numbers of animals there too, we're talking about 10 in total or something, worth me raiding them once iv got a small attacking force?

I looked at this alliance but it gets confusing.

Follow the alliance chain :

SPQR > [-TSL-] > ~SCAR~ > UK > UFE ( and wings ) > Power A ( and wings )> BOOM > its goes on.

So we will become allianced with virtually every allance above us , and the ones that we aren't linked with have NAPS with the others.

I havnt really recovered yet, will start looking into an army once i get my resource fields upgraded properly.
 
how many resources have you got? ENough for cranny to cover?

if not, spend them and send your troops farrr away, then cancel after he attacks :)

Send your troops to raid the nearest weak village.

Spend as much as you can on anything that is in excess of your Cranny protection.

Change your underwear ! :D

Move your troops away and make sure resource levels dont exceed your crannys capacity.

Not without catapults. Even with them they do nothing to small villages anyhow :)

Fair enough... But at the moment it is:

OCUK > PT&UK > SPQR > [-TSL-] > ~SCAR~ > UK > UFE ( and wings ) > Power A ( and wings )> etc... etc...

So there would be no change really. We are inderectly alliance with about every team anyway. :p
