FEAR was utterly brilliant...except that the levels were all basically the same. If you played it for 30min bursts at a time over a long period then it was probably great.

Bioshock.. great game, appaling boss fight. I chucked a few RPGs at him, then wrench-jockeyed him to death.

I've played it through a few times, as I love the majority of the game, but the end boss was such a paint-by-numbers letdown.

The thing of it is, I really don't mind "weak" end bosses, the guy running the entire thing, if he was just a normal guy with a box of tricks running the show behind a door thats fine, kill him easily like anyone else. That works, but when you come into a big room with a stonking great big(its been a while am I right in thinking great big blue dude?) boss, you expect him to be harder to beat than the first fight with a big daddy, which he wasn't.

I did usual boss thing, look around, can kinda stand in a corner and dodge whatever uber weapon he throws out at me. Moved over, expected to do some straffing, firing and reloading, fired....... and it was over?

The game sucked though, as so many "fps/rgp" crossovers fail, within an hour(max two) you are essentially invunerable, you scale massively, but no real variety of enemies at all and they don't get harder or scale up. Like the last big daddy isn't 3 times as hard to kill as the first one, but you're 862 times tougher. When a game loses any sense of difficulty so quickly, there was just no challenge at all. Even when harder at the beginning, meaningless death meant you still didn't really care, but despite not giving a crap, not being careful ever, i rarely ever died throughout.

KOTOR II was a prime example. You could see that the developers had their asses kicked half way through making the game. Dialouge was cut, planets & storylines/quests were cut and the general feeling of the game became slap dash. The last level was a complete joke, topped off by the most ridiculously anti-climatic ending i've ever seen!

KOTOR 2 was one of the most enjoyable 3/4 of a game I've ever played. I've never finished it, though. Towards the end of the game it was just so obvious that huge chunks of content had beed tossed that I just gave up in disgust. It was completely unfinished.

Fallout 3 for definite, it suddenly gets fantastic then the ending lets it down severely.
Gears of war 2 - Last boss is just pathetic

I'd have to say every game ever made. I'm a little ADD with games, I'll play the hell out of them before I suddenly get bored and move on to other things. A game's really gotta deliver for me to go through the effort of completing it.

Gotta agree on Fahrenheit. I thought it was shaping up to be the gaming equivalent of the Exorcist and then...

* sections that are nigh on impossible if you can't mash buttons fast enough.
* annoying single-solution puzzles
* implosion of storyline into general rediculousness
* characters seemingly having personality transplants part way through.

Oh well...

+1 for Stalker: Clear Sky, Farhenheit and KOTOR II .

And I'd also like to add - Mass Effect. The end of the game just didn't really excite me much, and the ending I got wasn't great either. I am how-ever in the middle of re-playing it so maybe my mind will be changed.

Most of the well known FPS games seem to start great then have terrible endings from Halflife to Stalker to Farcry and Crysis. In fact I'm struggling to think of one that had a decent one.

i know what you mean about GTA:SA, stupid sweet at the end! wanting to go back to the ghetto and reclaim it! after CJ tells him about the mansion and the stake in the casino! and i have to take back 35% of this hole to get to the last mission!

sry if spoiler, but the games quite old now so get over it!!! :D

Far Cry 2 : Ok, it lost its way after about halfway through the first area.

I'm not honestly sure FC2 had a direction from the beggining.. Certainly not after the guy you've come to kill comes for a nice chat, about 5 minutes in.

Crysis was a partial let down after the aliens came, but I think i was still dribbling too much at the graphics/movement of the whole experience to give a ****.

Just off the top of my head, Unreal 2 : The Awakening had a good ending imo.
