Insomnia was 1995, I'd argue that Orbital - Halcyon & On & On (1993) probably was the first example of more modern trance.

I don't know if this counts as it sways easily into the "cheese" category, but, Saturday Night by Whigfield. It was MASSIVE back in '94! Plus, to go with the "dance" genre, this song did inspire millions to learn its dance routine....but the less said about that the better.

Probably one of the first example of progressive trance though, and it mixes pretty well in to more recent trance.

Still undecided who I will ultimately vote for though. A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray is a serious contender as well.

Bit annoyed that Sonz Of A Loop Da Loop Era - Far Out, is not included. Love that track.
