Green led no display coming with new system :(

psu: MSI MPG A550BN ATX PC
motherboard: MSI PRO B760M-P DDR4
cpu: Intel Core i5-13400F 2.5 GHz
this 3 is new.


RAM: 32 GB Ballistix RAM (2x16GB)
Storage: 2 SSDs but not installed
GPU: (I forgot the model but sahppire.)
monitor:gamepower

i also took one ram out but same.

At computer shop, i could see it was working in display mode. So, can it be about monitor or i broke something while i was bringing to home? he could not i think also use from hdmi.


I just installed parts and now at first, white then red-black as i remember because fast, then system stops everyting and reboots and then white, yellow and green lights come and wait. i did not install ssd yet, to see first display. No display comes.

I have gamepower monitor. i tried both display and hdmi but still no incoming. Monitor waits at sleeping mode. Monitor works normally , i use it in my laptop.

I tried cmos reset. taking out battery, then take out power cable of cpu 4 pin. Than waiting 15 mian and pushing power button. Also after first time, it does not do again whilte-black-red, it does only white yellow green thing or yellow-white-green and no display.

What should i try more? another monitor? hard to find for me. i have laptop but i cant project to that i t hink.

i use cable of psu from box.

So you've replaced your motherboard, CPU, and PSU and nothing else?

What PSU did you have prior, and did you reuse the old cables?

Make sure everything is connected properly, it might help if you take a picture of the inside of your case and post it here for us to have a look. Make sure we can see the majority of the motherboard, use https://imgur.com/upload as a host.

I had gamepower psu. i am using new cable of psu now. There is no more cable now because i did not put ssd. new fan came with cpu so cable also from there.

I only changed psu, cpu , cpu fan, motherboard. Green led means no boot device, yes i dont have now but i should be able to see bios screen?

Here’s my current build:


  • PSU: MSI MPG A550BN ATX
  • Motherboard: MSI PRO B760M-P DDR4
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-13400F (2.5 GHz)
    → These three components are new.

  • Storage: I have 2 SSDs but haven’t installed them yet.

I removed one RAM stick to test, but the issue persists.



Problem:


After installing the parts:


  1. On first boot, the system briefly shows a sequence of debug lights (white → red → black?) then automatically reboots.
  2. On the second boot, only the white, yellow, and green debug LEDs come on — and they stay on.
  3. There is no display output, either via HDMI or DisplayPort. The monitor stays in sleep mode.

I reset CMOS using a screwdriver on the JBAT1 pins as per the official MSI manual. I unplugged the power, shorted JBAT1 with the screwdriver for 10 seconds, then plugged back in and booted — but still no change.


I tried booting with and without a USB stick containing Ubuntu. When the USB is inserted, the final LED stays white, which according to the manual means “no VGA detected.”
When I remove the USB, the LED sequence changes slightly but still ends in green/white with no display.



Other Notes:


  • The PC was working earlier at the computer shop in "display mode."
  • I'm wondering: could something have been damaged during transport?
  • I’m using the cables that came with the PSU.
  • Unfortunately, I don’t have access to another monitor to test easily.
  • I tried both HDMI and DisplayPort, neither works.


Questions:


  • Why does the system reboot after the first power-on?
  • Could the issue be the GPU, PSU, or motherboard?
  • Is this a known problem with the MSI PRO B760M-P DDR4 and i5-13400F?

Any suggestions for what else to try?

I tried ram in 2-4 and DP connected.

again at first red yellow black-white and restarted.

at second, white and stayed in green again and no display.

i put also ssd yesterday, did not work and i put usb stick of ubuntu. it should have worked with it i think.

For first bios flash, it maybe needs vga or something like that but it worked in compter shop where i ordered pieces to put into case. maybe not kind of my monitor
 
Update: I went again to pc shop. And again worked there!

I used my power cable so not about it. I guess 2 possibilities.

1- My display cable is broken.
2- At first setup, it works only via vga.

Because shop's monitor is vga. He uses vga to display, so it can give display. Wİthout ssd. I also put usb and could see ubuntu menu.

We could not test my display cable because he has vga . And my motherboard has vga but i think because of cpu, no integrated vga.

And there also hdmi did not work.

Before, in old system, hdmi was working with same cable. BUt not same system of course. it was amd before. But now i can use with that hdmi cable to laptop and it works.

What i can do is now to buy new display cable to see if really broken. If not-probably not-, i need vga monitor and vga to display changer.

I also read somewhere at first only via vga but i could not find it.

What do you think?

Looking at your graphics card it's a dvi port not a VGAport and above looks like hdmi ports.

The only VGA port is on the motherboard.

Pretty sure it's a Sapphire RX580 Pulse or similar.

I'm also assuming the OP is on W10?

If the shop is plugging into VGA they're plugging it into the motherboard directly and as such are using onboard, which would be odd as the "F" series Intel CPU's shouldn't have onboard.

The problem seems to be with your GPU, I'd suggest the following:

1. Update to the latest motherboard bios.
2. Boot via legacy rather than UEFI.

See what happens and report back, there's some instances where a GPU bios update helps in situations like yours but I'd consider that a last resort.

Fortunately as a minimum he has been able to gain visuals "in the shop" which indicates he should be able to view his bios and act accordingly.

He's clearly reading his user manuals for his motherboard so I'd hope they explain how, I almost linked how to do so but it's a bit different for every bios revision/motherboard/manufacturer.

I've actually been a little loathe to advise in this thread for a few reasons, partly due to what I assume is the OP being ESL (English Second Language), but the cynic in me is wondering if he's being buggered around by his local PC shop. The fact that they can launch with a display is odd to me, his CPU should not be able to do that and the issues he's suffering look like issues you might suffer from older GPU's on more modern platforms. AMD's Polaris (aka RX4X0/5X0) launched almost a decade ago.

OP: Can you confirm the EXACT CPU you've purchased? The fact the shop can view video while you cannot is odd to me if you have an F series CPU coupled with what you've previously stated.

i never said gpu has vga port, motherboard has but i cant use becaue of cpu. The computer shop used vga monitor but with vga to dp changer. 2 dp, 2 hdmi ports. i tried all.

But for bios maybe it needs special output like 4k hdmi or 8k hdmi.

i did not install any. my old system was linux but the nvme was gone so ssd has no op now. Now no ssd was installed also .i want to see output first.
latest driver seems january 2025 . Probably mine is same but i will try if i can find another free usb to flash biosafter other suggestions https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B760M-P-DDR4/support#driver

cpu is this: intell 13400f. I saw while he was installing parts. computer shop guy also used dp 1-2 port to give display, not motherboard.

lol i wont go there again. it is not about the shop's magic.
Shop's monitor has only vga and hdmi. both did not work there. Probably gpu wants 4k 8k hdmi cable or vga for first boot bios setup but i cant confirm still .i think ifound a vga monitor at my friends. now i need vga to hdmi or vga to display adapter to test
