Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th - 15th March 2023]

As i said, nobody was discussing these in the thread (well apart from people laughing at Longstaff trying to get a player sent off) Seems weird if they were as clear as you claim.
It was a booking not a red but fred should have had been booked at least twice before that, as I say you whine like hell, like the worlds against you when you don’t get decisions and then the selective memory comes when you get decisions in later games

Funnily enough I've just checked your posts in that thread as well and you don't mention either supposed red card. Who is talking about selective memory?

That could be because I was actually attending the match(something I guess you don’t do) and the last thing on my mind at the time of the incident or after we got beat was to come on here and mention it, also I didn’t feel the need to moan about it as we got beat fair and square, I was just pointing out your selective memory when it comes to decisions going for you and then against you

As I said you posted several other things, including a little post match review that didn't mention it. Seems very weird that you'd 'forget' two red cards that quickly.

Because we got beat pretty much fair and square, you just happened to get 2 decisions that could have been a red on another day. You’re the one that seems to cry and whinge like a little girl when decisions don’t go for you

This is going to be like those "Can't raise your hand to a player's neck" claim where I get to point how how many times it happens in the following weeks and isn't a red card. What a crazy, random happenstance.
I don’t agree. The red for grabbing yer man by the scruff of the collar was super soft. This was an off the ground studs showing good ole fashioned tackle. If you get any part of the player with a tackle like that you’re always going to run the risk of a red. Same reason I think Bruno was lucky the other night to only get a yellow, though admittedly his studs weren’t towards the player.

Don’t get me wrong, I wish to **** it hadn’t been a red but I can easily see why it was.

On first viewing I thought nah not a red, but tbh the more I watch it the worse it is, he was unlucky that he bounced off the ball but you cant go sliding in two footed. He seemed genuinely gutted and it was a nice touch that he gave Alcaraz a hug after.

The problem is the decision is so inconsistent that when it is let go in another instance it just makes you question it. KWP in the same game people just become confused with what is acceptable or not. Football going to end up going the same way as basketball where you cannot even touch a player.

There are inconsistencies everywhere, its terrible. Look at Isak's goal, McKennie scored the exact goal vs Fulham in the FA cup, but it was disallowed for a push, how was Isak's not a push too? Woeful stuff.

I think that Casemiros was a strong yellow card and there was no malice in it. They are often given as reds despite the obvious deflection off the top of the ball. What I do think they should be doing however is only watching them in real time. Slow motion replays should only be used to determine if contact was made. Not to watch a bad tackle at 1/10th speed where it looks super cynical.

The bit that galls you most is that he gets a red and the day before, there is just as bad a tackle on Felix and it gets nothing. Casemiro gets a red for grabbing a guy by the collar who doesn't make a meal of it and they freeze frame it to look like hes throttling him despite it being pretty clear from the other guys reaction that he isn't. Then in the following weeks we see 2-3 more incidents that are just as bad if not worse and they get nothing or a yellow.

Its just horrible inconsistency. The handball was the same. How on earth that isn't a penalty is beyond me. If he doesn't use his arm to stop that it goes to Weghorst who misses obviously but still :p

Another foul on McTominay is ignored that is a penalty 9/10 and then the one on Sancho is astonishing. He kicks him. They are pretty much always given. These are massive decisions. City won yesterday from a penalty. Its slim margins.

This isn't perfect quality but how anyone can say that not a single one of those is a penalty with a straight face.

It didn't even deflect off the top of the ball really, the only reason it bounces off is because the Soton player's foot is on the other side. Otherwise it's a clean challenge and it's probably not even called as a foul. I've never seen a red given for a challenge like that that doesn't either A. Go over the ball or B. Is with two players running towards each other, that is when it is dangerous. Casemiro is approaching from an angle where it is tough to call that reckless.

Don't the rules say if your arm is on the ground supporting your body its not classed as a handball? Pretty sure we have had a few of these this or last season and there was one in the World Cup too when it went through the players legs but hit his arm which was supporting his body as he was going down

The one today just looks clumsy as he slips and is on the deck, if his arms aren't there he falls flat on his face. Even Antony doesn't appeal, he's normally the second one in line after Bruno throwing his arms about.
