Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 13th November 2022]

After years of thinking how many are we going to get beat by when we played the sky6 and praying for a fluke draw, it’s unbelievable to think we have played 5 of the 6 and won 2 drew 2 and lost 1 and have a positive goal difference.

Donkey's 2nd, to Mane, for most goal contributions for Liverpool after their first 10 games. Better than Suarez, Torres, Owen and Fowler

Robertson also tied Baines for most assists for a fullback in nearly 200 games less.

Nunez's minutes will be far less than any of those too.

He's still got lots to work on. His touch lets him down from time to time and his decision making isn't always the best but the lad is just blockbuster. He's always in the game, whether it's on the break or in and around the 18 yard box he's a massive threat.

Like I said in the reply re Elliott, the challenge for us is finding a system that gets the most out of him and particularly Salah. He's done well there the last couple of games but I'm not sure we're getting the best from him on the left in a 4-3-3 and with Salah on the right and Elliott in midfield, it does leave us a bit open. I'm not sure if there's a 4-4-2/4-2-3-1 that could work with both Salah and Nunez central. If only Elliott was right footed and we could play him on the left of the midfield 3, where you've got Diaz offering more defensively than Salah on the right!

We've got the same issue with Thiago on the left, he's even slower and weaker than Elliot and offers even less protection for Robertson but Diaz does help out a lot more as you said.

Both would be far better suited to the central role with two bigger, faster and stronger players either side of them doing the leg work. Doesn't help that Fabinho currently looks like he's playing in reverse though.

Whether slower and weaker, Thiago at least plays as a more traditional midfielder where as Elliott plays a lot wider and more advanced. We could certainly have done with Fabinho having the WC off because him losing his legs has played as big a part in our midfield openess as the tactical set-up.
