Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th-19th Oct 2020]

Obviously it's very early days and Spurs are far from consistent, but if they can be, and Mourinho can keep them motivated, the title isn't out of the question...
TBH I would say they are pretty consistent currently, played 4, 2 wins(should have been 3) 1 draw 1 loss. They have looked like the old Chelsea when he first came to England since the start of the season

Spurs are good but their depth is rubbish. A normal Harry Kane injury will come soon and Son isn't the fittest either.

I think they do now, I have no idea if their new guy is good but they do actually have a backup striker now. Then you have Bale, Lucas, Bergwijn for the wings. Ndombele actually looks promising and Holberg has been very good. Even have a decent set of fullbacks now, maybe not Aurier? The Rogan lad from Swansea looked very good in the Championship too.

They've always had back up strikers tbf, they've just been so useless that they were never used. Who knows whether this guy is any different.

edit: confirmed that VVD's done his ACL - we'll be lucky if he's back before the end of the season now.

Hopefully the club are already looking at bringing in someone during the January transfer window. There's no way Matip stays fit long enough, especially with a condensed fixture list.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for VVD.

Well, that's season over for us before it's even really got off the ground.

Spurs look good. I think they're lacking at the back, but then so is every team this season. They're in with as good a chance as anyone this season. For my money the top four will be Spurs, City, Liverpool, and either Arsenal or Everton but not necessarily in that order

We'll struggle with Adrian behind Matip and Gomez but get Alisson back and I'd still fancy us to win the league. Spurs might have an attacking three as good as ours on paper and City might have a midfield as good as ours but our midfield and attack is a better combination. Might have to outscore teams to win, but this team can do it.

I think that's a tad ott. It's not like you look around the PL and see rock solid back 4's all over the place and in Trent, Robertson & Alisson we've got comfortably the best players in their positions still. If Matip can stay fit then he's as good as anybody outside VVD too.

Thankfully it's only a little over 2 months until the transfer window opens. We're very well stocked in midfield and Fabinho's shown he can slot in at CB without too much issues.

I wouldn't bet against us playing 3 at the back at times too. When we had a CB shortage a couple of seasons back we done that with Gini and Can playing either side of Lovren. Gini, Fabinho, Henderson and Robertson could all play either side of one of Matip or Gomez and it'll give Trent more freedom down the right too.
