Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 24th Jan 2021]

This has been an issue for ages, as soon as Mings touches the ball a new phase in play is started and then Rodri is classed as onside, if Mings doesn't touch the ball then Rodri is flagged as offside, it's not fair because if Rodri wasn't in an offside position then he wouldn't have had the chance to make the tackle but them's the rules that have been in place for quite sometime, remember Van Nistelrooy used to stand miles offside sometimes at freekicks hoping to pick up some scraps from a poor defensive clearance

Yes, because the City player is right behind him, the same player then tackles Mings which leads to the goal. It's utter nonsense.
The rule, maybe but not the decision. Like it or not, a player is only active if he plays or attempts to play the ball. The City player only attempts to play the ball after Mings has controll and played the ball and he of course can't be offside after Mings plays the ball.

Standing in an offside position, leaving the defender with a decision to make has gone on for years. It was a lot more unfair pre VAR with defenders not knowing if the flag will go up, these days defenders should be able to trust that if they leave the ball that the offside will be given.

If Wan-Bissaka wasn't quick he'd be working in Tesco. His positioning is quite often terrible and his ability on the ball is barely Sunday League level.

It’s not just being quick, he can pull off some ridiculous tackles. I completely agree that he’s tripe a lot of the time though, and can’t attack his way out of a paper bag.
I’d gladly trade him for an all-rounder as he’s a bit of a waste of a spot apart from the odd worldly intervention.
