Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 24th Jan 2021]

No doubt cabbage head will quote this at some point post match “Well you know Villa, they are a very tough side. It’s a difficult place to go. We had some moments in the game but we just need to dust ourselves off ready for Leeds who are a very tough side”

This just goes to show how good a manager Rafa was, he proved what you can do when you have well drilled players, Bruce is proving what happens when you don’t have a well drilled players and train them correctly.

Nothing changed, he'd be foolish to return, realistically he shouldn't have stuck around as long as he did. Brucey is doing a good job of showing just how good Rafa was, more money spent, worse team!

We've just gone Backwards!

ASM and Almiron under Rafa with Rondon, would have been interesting! Hard to beat, bit of a threat, and less money spent!

Ashley most likely will sack Bruce, but you can bet your arse it won’t be until the transfer window is closed, can’t have a manager asking for money to spend.

Looks like the City/Villa offside issue has been 'clarified'

But referees group the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, rulemakers the International Football Association Board, and European governing body Uefa have since offered clarification on how such an incident should be interpreted in the future.

"Where a player in an offside position immediately impacts on an opponent who has deliberately played the ball, the match officials should prioritise challenging an opponent for the ball, and thus the offside offence of 'interfering with an opponent by impacting on the opponent's ability to play the ball' should be penalised."

The statement from the Premier League added: "Accordingly, if a similar situation to the one involving Rodri's impact on Mings occurred in a future match, then the impact would be penalised for offside."

Can't wait for the subjective arguments over what counts as 'immediately impacts' should this happen again :p
