We took our eye off the ball after the red card and have allowed them into the game. It's times like this where we miss Thiago's ability to get on the ball and just control the game.
Before the red I thought we looked really good. Newcastle started brightly but other than the Alimiron chance where he's come back from an offside position, we defended their attacks well and then were clinical in attack.

oh I thought a straight red was an automatic 3 match ban under FA rules, or is that only for a "foul"

Nope. Denying a goalscoring opportunity is just a 1 game ban. Violent conduct and serious foul play are 3 games.
