Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 21st Sep 2020]

Our performance yesterday was a disgrace. Every player was poor.

Every summer we have the same transfer garbage and most of them come to nothing.

We had to strengthen and it doesn’t look like we will.

Man Utd are done as a top level club as it stands, there’s no point blaming the pandemic as the Glazers have siphoned off hundreds of millions.

We have a squad where half of the players aren’t good enough and a manager who is just not great, so needs players to carry the team as Bruno did last season.

Woeful.

United are a mess - plain and simple.

How you start a season with McTominay, Fosu-Mensah and James in the team is a disgrace.

James is clueless - utterly lost at Premiership level. Looks like a rabbit in the headlights when he gets the ball.

McGuire & (insert name here) - Have zero pace, United CB pairings are just awful.

De Gea is steadily getting worse and worse over last few seasons. I would love to see Romero get a run of games - never complained, never let the side down in the cup games etc.

United are looking more and more like a ship at sea without a rudder. Just drifting along without any direction or leadership from pitch to boardroom.

Look at what Chelsea have done - gone out, got what they needed, yes potentially paid over the odds for Havertz, but got him all the same.

Honestly no chance Sancho comes to United - why would you at the moment. Money is potentially way better but your not going to win the league/CL with players of James/Fosu/McTominay in your starting line up no matter how good you are.

They seldom looked like a team, or at least not a very good one - Some decent individuals like Bruno etc but so much deadwood in that squad - Needs wholesale clear out.

Lingard, Pereira, Matic, McTominay, Ighalo, Chong - Are you seriously telling me any of these players are Premier League quality / Man Utd players? Pathetic from the top down.

Was just wondering that myself!

As for the backroom staff and coaches, surely ole has a say in that? If they are not good isn't that partly on him?

Yes it is on him. He needs to be more ruthless and less pally. What I meant with strategy is the players he has brought in which have all been good buys (You can argue Maguire either way) and the style of football United want to play. I think he would make a decent director of football in that sense. He cannot be that bad tactically as he beat Pep 3 times, drew with Klopp when the pool where in their pomp and did very well against the rest of the top six. His major weakness and what is needed is how to break down teams who do the low block which has been an issue for a long long time. We had 75% possession yesterday but did nothing with it.

Just kick the ball towards a defenders body when you're in the box and you'll probably get a penalty.
