Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 21st Sep 2020]

Well, what can you say about that. When was the last time Palace scored 3 goals in the PL? They're basically a team of kickers with the odd flair player and they've just won comfortably.

The penalty was a joke but they should've been 3/4 up at that point. By the end Palace will be disappointed they didn't have at least 5.

I take it you haven't actually ever watched Palace. We are not a "team of kickers", we actually play fluid football. We had problems last season as Benteke only does well in side that hoofs balls into the box.

Give over. Mccarthy, Ward and Mccarthur are 3 examples of the epitome of a kicker. Sakho is only useful for hoofing it. Milivojevic is another who just fouls continuously although he obviously didnt start, even Ayew fouls all the time.

I've heard Palace style of football called many things, but never 'fluid'.

Out of interest what leads you to believe they're going to be any better this season Vs last?

Like I said, you clearly haven’t watched the team play very much have you.

Enough sadly, you only have to look at last season which you admit yourself was a struggle. Dire to watch with some of the biggest **** houses in the league, especially in midfield.

What makes you think it'll be any different this season?

I don’t think you have watched them enough. I’m a lifelong Palace fan who is well aware of the teams failings. Under Hodgson we have been playing attractive passing football. This is the reason that Benteke has struggled.

Last season, before lockdown we were aiming to finish in the top 10 and thought we had a chance of Europe. We finished as badly as we did because we lost our last 7 games as the team clearly lost all drive and motivation.

The team is solid and really just needs a striker. I think Batshuai will do well for us again this season. He did well in his first spell with us. If we can keep Zaha we could be in the running for a European place this season.

Palace were bottom for big chances created last season, second bottom for shots, and second bottom for goals scored in the premier league.

Yeah and 4 in the top 14 players for most fouls. 4.

I admire your optimism.

There is a huge difference between looking at stats like this and actually watching a team play. Palace’s problems last season were all in the final third. This wasn’t because the team was playing route one football. When we finished 3rd in the league we had loads of shots on goal as well as goals scored. In that season we played a very physical and direct style of football. There is zero correlation between the type of football played and the amount of shots on goal, or goals scored.

What's happened to Anderson? He looked a world beater a couple of seasons ago and now can't get a game.

1-1 ... what the hell is Holding doing, he's looking across he can see he's free.

Only Arsenal fans...well Leeds aswell but is Nketiah any where near good enough for a championship squad nevermind where Arsenal want to be?

Nketiah is absolutely class imo. Bright future ahead.
