Those ’tactical’ fouls with no attempt at the ball should be reds but it needs put in the rules, not a random decision to benefit those who commit most of them

Volleying someone from behind with zero chance of getting the ball shouldn't be a yellow I agree.

Chuffed with that.

Eddie's Howes back and white army!!!

We need some help with some attacking talent and we in for a decent season.

He wouldn't have been sent off because it was a tactical foul but because the officials decided it was serious foul play.
My argument would be 'tactical' fouls are serious foul play, makes me laugh as people praise players for 'taking one for the team' when in reality it's knowing you are short at the back and just want to stop it anyway they can. In my eyes it's a clear case of cheating where a mistimed slide tackle is a normal part of the game and rightly booked.

No attempt to play the ball and just kick\trip the player should be a straight red in my eyes as there's no need for it.

Eddie Howe is exactly what Newcastle needed, yes Ashley had the club on a sound financial footing but the lack of investment in the club overall had the vast majority of Toon fans in a very negative place, Howe is exactly the man with the style of football to bring the feel good back, yes they're going to have a few hiccups but there's no doubt that the Toon army have a very different mindset now towards the product being offered by the club.

That's another point but I was just clarifying why the player was sent off in the example you raised. It wouldn't have been for the tactical element of the foul but because the official decided it endangered the opponent. I can remember Rooney getting sent off in those circumstances years ago where he decided to hack Downing(?) down rather than just tap the back of his ankles when he was breaking away.

Because Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd and Spurs have generally beaten the other sides fairly easily in recent years?
I don’t mean that, I mean looking at the fixtures. In past years you could look at fixtures and confidently feel that you’d win this one or that one, but I’m looking at the fixture lists now and I just see potential slip ups all over the place

I know what you were saying Rob but I'm not sure it's really applied to 4 of the top 6 in recent years. Those sides were dropping points so regularly that I don't think anybody was predicting straight forward wins for them too often.
