Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22nd - 24th October 2022]

Point being your recruitment has been pap. Was there a need to spash so much money on forwards with the players you had versus squad needs?

Not sure that is your point giving you prefaced it with 'top quality players throughout their squad'

Also, the fact we couldn't field a natural front 3 today would suggest forwards are a squad need

We are 11 games into the season. All I see is constant moaning that you your midfield is useless.

Who was your forwards last season and how many goals did they score?

We bloody well had Chris Wood up front for the second half of last season and were one of the best teams in form

Front 3 were invisible, midfield didn't work. Bad day at the office - feels very much like Klopp's 1st few seasons where we didn't quite have the players for what he wanted to do.

You seem to be contradicting yourself with every post. Our midfield was the same as last season too and we done ok so by your logic we didn't need to improve on that also? You can't have it both ways.

We lost 3 forwards in the summer, we absolutely had to sign forwards. As Purdy says, we couldn't even put 3 recognised forwards out today! Are we playing pretty rubbish this season? Yes. Do we need to strengthen other areas of the side? Yes again but your point suggesting we shouldn't have signed Diaz and Nunez is plain bonkers.

No chance Liverpool are getting top 4. League is far too tight compared to last time in the 20/21 season.

Happy for Forest however. Hopefully they can start stringing results together and get out of the bottom 3.

Did you need to cash in on Mane? And sign Andy Carroll 2.0?

He wanted to leave and had performed well for just 5 months in 2 seasons so yes. And I assumed the Andy Carroll/Nunez comments were just banter? I thought it was pretty clear to anybody that's watched Nunez that he's a very good player.

Jury's still out on that one.

Been fantastic entertainment so far. I will give him that

The jury is still out in the sense that it's a very short period of time but from the minutes he's had, he's been very good. He's only had 342 minutes on the pitch in the PL and has scored 3 and picked up an assist, which is a very impressive.

As I said in the Liverpool thread, he's a very raw player but he's hugely effective. Hopefully he doesn't headbutt anybody or get injured again anytime soon because he looks like he's going to start scoring for fun soon.
