Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 27th Dec 2020]

Funny how Spurs fans thought Mourinho would be different and somehow win serious trophies with them. Things will get toxic real quick when negative results start happening and boring football is losing games.

When you look back at it everyone was still pretty much playing 442 at the time so when Jose came in with his new way of playing especially Makelele. He totally bossed the league. As soon as the top clubs adjusted however that soon changed. That is the major issue with him. He hasn't really changed and adapted at all. I think it is an ego thing and he isn't the only one. Pepe is very similar and hasn't changed his style at all and teams have found him out.

That is what made Ferguson different to everyone. He evolved through the times getting the right forward thinking coaches in around him.

Neither has Bielsa changed his way of playing and everyone fawns at the god thats won nothing.

The way Bielsa plays is that he needs top top players for it to work effectively. I would love for him to be given a chance at a top club as he knows his stuff. Quite similar to Brighton, they play decent football but have the potential to go down whereas if they played more like a Sam Allardyce or Sean Dyche team they would "survive" but where is the fun in that.

Thats because most people want to watch football and enjoy it while they are doing it. Bielsa delivers exciting attacking football and is a bit of a nutter with it. Mourinho delivers awful turgid football that most people tire of watching very quickly and any short term success is followed swiftly by an implosion.

I haven't heard many managers saying that Mourinho is their inspiration or that they admire him but I have heard A LOT of top managers credit Bielsa.

The idea that you have to win something to be someone is ridiculous. I could give you 10 managers that have won more than Bielsa who are nobodys in football. Does that mean they are better managers?

It's also not great management to stick to the same plan and refuse to change. It won't take them down this year but will next year. Of course fans of bigger teams love them, nothing more frustrating that losing to a well set up team and play a boring 0-0 until the little club nicks a 1-0 from a set piece due to the pressure of survival in the EPL.

He's taking a low pressure job with little fear of the sack. Give him the Chelsea job and see how he does. Over rated, come back when he's won something in a big pressure job.

Who's over rating him actactly? The players/managers of current and past? I think people will take their opinion over someone who just watches the game.

Zidane has won 3 champions League titles. Is he in the same room and Clough, Ferguson, Ancelotti etc? Not a chance in hell. Being at a top club with money can also be a lot easier with a lot less pressure but the pressure can flip from one another extreme to another.
