Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 27th Dec 2020]

We HAVE to concede, we can't just grind out a 1-0 it seems.

Jones makes the same mistake repeatedly and costs us. So frustrating, the entire world knew the outcome and still we couldn't avoid it.

I ******* hate football.

Feel like I watched a different game to everyone else here, not sure what you’d blame Klopp for, who is gonna bring on?

The performance was just lacklustre. The way they just kept doing the same thing was mad, just a crap game.

Seemed like a foul for their goal to be fair though the amount their guy who scored was climbing over our player, if that’s us and VvD he gets the goal disallowed. Oh well

Klopp gets blamed for shocking play by Jones and the lad at the back :p

It's WBA, you should be beating them with the B team

That wasn’t working after around 20 minutes. It could have been 4-0 by then though I’ll admit.
We have no option in that situation at present. We don't have a midfielder who can pick intricate passes with Thiago sidelined, and we don't have a number 9 who can play as a focal point. I've said it before but Giroud would have been a great signing when he left Arsenal

Horrible performance and a horrible game. We fell into WBA's trap and paid the price. We could have been 2-0 up in the first half and they wouldn't have changed how they were playing - all they wanted to do was spoil the game and bring us down to their level and it worked. Second half we were completely off it and although we were still in control for the most part, they were getting a few opportunities to get into our box and without VVD we're vulnerable from corners. It was probably a foul on Fabinho for their goal but we run the risk of a decision like that going against us by not killing the game off.

It’s because everyone on here was saying it wasn’t working so it’s Klopp’s for not changing it, either change the constant crossing into the box or shore it up with a more defensive layout

Bruce will have this match on repeat whilst he finishes off his tins of quality street.
The first thing that will go through Bruce’s mind (except I fancy a kebab) is “I need to now have 11 players in the box all game because Liverpool will want to set an example”. WBA have now taken a point at city and Liverpool and shown the perfect way to grind out a point, will we copy them? You can bet your life we will do the exact opposite. As I said Liverpool will have there easiest game of the season and won’t even need to get out of 2nd gear.

I like Jones and he's played well recently but he was slow and sloppy on the ball today. He should've been hooked way earlier and that's on Klopp.

At least Klopp's not making excuses but he needs to manage games better, he's an amazing manager but there's still room for improvement.

We just never turn up against the smaller sides. We should be fighting as hard to batter WBA as we do for matches versus City.

It's concerning as well that without Matip, we don't score - he was our playmaker.

Jones should've changed his game the first time he got dispossessed. Shorter and sharper passes with no unnecessary take ons.

Brighton, Burnley, Fulham and WBA - all feature the same turgid, creativity-free performances. Sure we had 60+% possession but who the **** cares if we can't do anything with it?

I love Bobby but when he plays we don't have a true striker as such and Origi as backup is laughable - this means it all comes from Salah and Mane who after three years, have been worked out.

Oh well, won £200 from it.

This is what all top teams need. You need that old school center forward to bring on for games exactly like this. They seem to be a dying a breed. People used to laugh but Fellani was a brilliant plan b option in games like this.

I think that's the difference between peak City and peak Liverpool. Liverpool could grind out results constantly, the 2-1 in the 90th minute kinda wins. City were battering teams like this 5 or 6-0 at their peak.
