Not really. If VVD had made his tackle, or Robbo hadn't stood in the middle of nowhere, we'd have dealt with it fine.
We've been excellent with Trent drifting into the middle. We need to sort out the three next to him.

Robertson is playing that LCB position and doesn't really work.

Konate pressed too high and left the simple pass down our right, Trent was miles out of position and we were 2 v god knows how many attackers as a result with VVD having to move out of position to cover.

But it isnt VVD making the tackle if we had a rb...he'd be on Kane.
You have to remember that whenever we concede it's always Trent's fault

Bring Gomez on at RB and take Elliot off. Klopp should just bite the bullet and play Trent at RCM
But you and @Pigeon_Killer are missing the point that we've been infinitely better in the last few weeks precisely because Trent has drifted inside. Plenty of teams manage that situation. City, Arsenal and Newcastle all play in a similar way. We currently do not manage it well.
Two years ago VVD (a) beats Perisic to that ball and (b) even if not, eases him off it. Now he simply can't do that job.
Robbo is not the equivalent of Ake, Burn or White. He's not comfortable moving into the centre.
This is a formation which maximises Trent's impact - he's arguably the most creative player in the squad, and it gets him playing. We need the other three defenders and Fabinho / whatever CDM we play to be capable of managing that situation.
Anyway, this is not a new "problem". Trent being out of position has been the situation more or less since he came into the team. We've covered the problem in numerous hugely successful seasons until now. Trent's defensive positioning is not the thing that has changed this season.

Spurs could easily be ahead, these tactics might benefit Trent but it’s at the expense of the rest of the team. Don’t want this for any longer than this season.
