It is a very serious issue. We are massively worse with Ronaldo up front but no one is going to pay him what we are and very few clubs even want him for half that amount. We also don't want to spend any more money right now.

You do have to question who on earth sanctioned that signing. Successive managers haven't picked him and the few chances he's had he looks utterly incompetent at anything. Certainly not the sort of player you would pick when you have Ronaldo a centre forward. Casemiro and Eriksen is not the combo for every match. It lacks power and pace to be left as a 2 in midfield. Unfortunately Martinez has picked today to have a bit of a shocker.
 
Think goldbridge has just nailed it, once Newcastle get top 4, everyone else will be playing for 2 champions league positions.

If Newcastle are still in top 4 spots come January, I reckon they will spend to gamble getting there earlier than predicted.
