Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 12th May 2022]

**** happens, played well but Spurs defended better than we attacked tonight.

Slim hope is almost non existent but City still need to win their games so I'm not giving up hope.

Would rather have another league title but another CL will soften the blow.
City can draw one of their last 4 and win the other 3 now, so they dont need to win all 4

Same would be nice to get another league out of covid, would rather another European Cup otherwise.

That said if City were in the final I'd be taking the cup every day :D

Klopp deserves to celebrate a league title in front of the fans before he leaves, not sure it'll happen though.

If Haaland arrives in the summer and performs in the EPL as well as elsewhere, then its only going to be all the more difficult going forward. City rack up the points when they dont have a proper striker, goodness knows whats going to happen when they have one

If Haaland arrives I hope he’s paid well but never fit. City should already be coasting the league annually (and basically do every other year), it’ll become even more boring.

Their other players will score less.

Liverpools points total doesn't really depend on City so all they can do is knock out another 97pt season and see what happens.

Man City's hardest game I would say is ironically Newcastle tomorrow. Westham have fallen off a cliff recently and Wolves/Villa will already be on the beach. Although I expect Stevie G will have something to say about how Villa go for it.

The end of the season was always going to be a grind for us. You could see in the Villarreal game that we're not 100% physically right now and it's easy to understand why. There was going to be a game or two where we had to just scrape a win from nowhere to keep the quad dream alive but sadly that looks to be over now. City dropping points was unlikely to me but a draw wasn't completely out of the question, seeing them losing just seems a step too far imo.

Obviously it won't be the kids but I think we've got to make a few changes midweek vs Villa or we're going to be running on fumes come the Cup final.

edit: Not too sure why Spurs were looking to waste time and settle for a draw late on. They needed to win to keep top 4 in their hands - even if they beat Arsenal, they still could miss out if Arsenal win their other games :/

Timewasting has been extra prevalent this season throughout all the competitions and by virtually every team.

That’s not even true when you look at the stats….

but it’s hurt Liverpool a few times this season so people here are naturally vocal about it On this forum. In fact Newcastle fans on here were vocal about Everton’s time wasting but they feature more than most in all those lists!

Ive got into NHL in a big way this year and agree it needs to happen, but then so should salary and transfer caps but I don’t think any of them will happen across the whole game.

This isn’t a new thing and it’s not any worse. Regardless of stopping the clocks it will still happen.

Your own link says that the ball in play is the lowest it's been for a decade?

All that shows is that its been an issue for all of the recent years, as to whether it will still happen if the clocks are stopped, I am 100% certain it will not happen, if the players who time waste realise that they are not wasting any time at all because the clock is stopped, I guarantee you that they will stop doing it because it doesnt gain them even 1 second from then on. All teams do it and frankly its utterly ******* pathetic, no matter which team it is. It does indeed need to happen and as I say, I am absolutely certain that it will happen, I used to think it wouldnt but timewasting, irrespective of the stats, is getting more and more media coverage and now I am sure its just a matter of when not if.

Liverpool fans having a moan about time wasting and drag Newcastle into it for some reason.

Best club ever. We play proper football, we are run properly. Blah blah blah.

Seem to rember Milner last week hitting the deck faking a head injury after Heading the ball away in his own box no Newcastle player was near him.

Every team does it sadly, I’d love for it to be stamped out. “Game management” - no, it’s cheating, call it what it is.

Is anyone starting to think that Rangnik godfather of modern football might be a fraud?

I think personally it was a blessing in disguise. As the complete collapse of the team has hopefully meant the club will go in a new direction and judging by the amount of reshuffling that's going on we can only cross our fingers and hope. In that way he was the right man for the job.

Losing both Greenwood and Martial obviously hasn't helped him but a 39% win percentage is shocking no matter which way you spin it.

Saying that it really does show how poor the league is that we can still have an absolutely dreadful season and qualify for some sort of European competition.

Dannyjo22 isn't a Liverpool fan, think he's an Everton lad. You lot are turning in man city quicker than anticipated with the 'Liverpool this Liverpool that' :D
