Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 13th May 2021]

As bad as Phillips and Williams are compared to our other defenders, having Fabinho or Henderson in midfield is absolutely essential. They protect the defence and control the press. Had Klopp used one of them in midfield rather than both at CB I'm sure we'd have top 4 sewn up.

Is McTominay being a bad loser and not shaking hands.

Ole really needs to up his game. Found wanting too many times

This is Ole. This is what we will have as long as he is manager. We will finish in or around the top four depending on other teams seasons and how good our players are.

Hes simply not a top class manager, not sure he ever will be.

Thoroughly deserved to win that. Other than the opening 15 mins and a 10 minute spell midway through the 2nd half we were comfortably the better side, dominating the midfield and causing Utd problems at the back at will. If only we'd scored our 4th 40 mins earlier it would have been much easier on my heart.

I would say Anthony Taylor needs sacking for his performance today but he's needed sacking for about 5 years. A truly terrible official that quite clearly bottled the decision to send McTominay off - the first challenge on Fabinho was right on the border of a red card but the foul on Mane was so obvious and Taylor's looking straight at it. He knew he'd have to send him off which is why he waved it away.
We probably argued at the time it wasnt a pen tho. Theyve gone back on the old clear and obvious mid season. For me im not entirely sure what Bailly is supposed to do??
I'm sure Liverpool supporters would have and a lot of supporters won't like the fact that fouls are given when a defender wins the ball, hence why I said like it or not. That doesn't change the fact that fouls have consistently been given for those challenges this season so for var to not just decide it wasn't a foul but to decide it was clearly and obviously wrong was complete bs.

We've been shafted all season because of this so i guess im just used to it now.

Jamie Redknapp is clearly an idiot. He hasn't realised that if Liverpool win their remaining games we'll 99.999% qualify for the CL due to the Chelsea - Leicester game.

Great minds think alike @omnomnom, you just got lucky this time.

Keane holding no punches about Fernandes' theatrics.

Think the pundits are going a bit overboard, we've played well against open teams all season. I expect us to struggle far more against West Brom and Burnley who will defend deeper and in numbers. Spank them and I'll change my mind but I wouldn't be surprised to see us drop more points.

Unless my maths is bad the only scenario where Liverpool couldn't finish top 4 after winning the last 3 games would be if Chelsea won both the last 2 games and Leicester beat Spurs by enough to overturn whatever goal difference Liverpool have accrued winning the 3 games.
