Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 16th December 2021]

Villa great again tonight. Brilliant composure throughout and our short game getting better all the time. Just that consistentcy were lacking right now with Midfield breaking down and getting a little leggy even when we're ahead.
 
Woohoo city beat Leeds 7-0, Liverpool always have to try to go 1 better, the Toon vs Liverpool should now be interesting, hopefully Mike Dean does a Micheal Massi when they are about 5-0 up, gives us a penalty and calls next goal winner, isn’t that how sport works now? :p:p:p:p

Well that didn't turn out so well :( I think this is our problem, Norwich can play well but we can't do it consistently enough over 90 minutes and when we do create chances we just don't have enough of a cutting edge to make them count against Premiership level opposition. We're great against Championship level sides but we need better players to perform at the higher level and the only way we can get them is to stay in the Premiership long enough to get the money for those players which we can't do because we don't have the players...

Well played Villa, disappointment at losing aside that was a enjoyable game of football.

I think dropping £28m on Rodrigo was a bit of a mistake :eek:

Yeah of course, that's fully Orta's decision. But you'd imagine Bielsa had some input into it.

That £28m could have got you Watkins... I remember at the time loads of Leeds fans were going on and on about how Rodrigo was going to be a mile better signing than Watkins...

And why not? He ticked the boxes, Watkins wasn't a Bielsa player, his record is barely better than Rodrigo and he has played CM for the majority of his Leeds career :D

I think last night it was more a case of us being on form then you guys being off it. True, you made a few defensive mistakes and the ball wasn't going forward enough, but when our back four are on form even the top 6 struggle to get past us (just look at the City and Liverpool games). Mings and Konsa just win everything in the box from set pieces, in fact I don't think we've conceded a goal from a header all season and McGinn, Targett and Cash press so hard ALL the time that we don't give the slightly weaker attacking sides a chance to break. I honestly didn't think Norwich played that badly at all and you've shown in that game against United that you're not willing to just accept relegation in quite the same way Leeds or even Burnley seem to have. I'd still put money on you guys staying up above the other three likely candidates.
 
Leicester want it moved due to the number of players out (mostly injured, not COVID), Spurs want it moved so they can fulfil their Rennes fixture before the deadline (31st).

United was exclusively COVID related i believe.
