Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 19th February 2025]

By this logic, we may as well not do anything at all and continue as we were. Anything that we do is a risk. And no system is incompatible, it’s just down to having good players.

We can’t have our cake and eat it. The whole ‘we will be bad for a few seasons, but we’ll have to accept it’ seems to get forgotten on here in a matter of 1-2 games. We’re in the bad patch, grin and bear it!
I thought the idea was that the manager didn't dictate the philosophy of the club. Although perhaps this is the footballing philosophy? The game model? Which is weird because the ex-City guy isn't doing it the City way/the city model. Then again, wasn't his role at United a promotion, so he has no experience at this management level.

The issue is we might be bad for a few more decades.

ETH played a more generic system and the players looked awful in that too. People keep saying we're worse but that's splitting hairs, it was rubbish under ETH too and he was using his own 'favourite' players, signed for him.

People are overthinking this in my view, it's just a question of getting in better players, and building confidence from there. Easier said than done, mind you.

At Sporting, Amorim thrived in a stable environment with a president, Federico Varandes, and director, Hugo Viana, around him. They were brilliant at their jobs, but here, there's no stability, it's just a complete mess.

Putting Amorim to one side, our biggest fear should be recruitment, there is no "best in class" football operation running here as INEOS claimed, that all fell apart pretty quickly. There also doesn't seem to be much money available, which is a pretty crippling blow.

The season is a write-off in terms of the league and has been since INEOS kept ETH on in the summer. We need to get to the end of the season and then reset, get some more players in, and give Amorim a full preseason. From day 1 next season there will need to be a serious upturn in performances, and hopefully things will improve from there.

It could all spectacularly implode long before then, though.

By the way, the offical aim is to win the league in 2028. Project 150.

That isn't very far away given that this season is a write-off, especially if 'bad for a few seasons' is also the plan.

I hope they do it but from the current view point it seems unlikely. Who knows though?

Good goal, shame its offside. Its going to be interesting to see if Rashford can keep up the try hard until the end of the season in the hope of getting a move to Barca.

Villa seem to be having rub of the green here and Liverpool aren't really controlling the game like they usually would.
