Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 20th January 2025]

A few observations at half time in the United - Brighton.
Mazraoui has had a bad spell, particularly in that RWB position. He looks better at RCB. Totally asleep for the Brighton goal.
Dalot on the other side not really any better and him and Yoro worry me.
Zirkzee has generally been good in everything he has done far better than Hojlund.
Mainoo is struggling to make any sort of impact. I don't want to be too hard on him as he is so young but we need more in that double pivot.
Amad is the only player that looks near the level - he's so good on the ball, off the ball.

Dont think Spurs problem is Ange its Levy putting hand in his pocket and buying strength in depth for the team, got a fair few injurys now but no decent backup.

What my Spurs supporting friend blames is Levy not Ange.

Postecoglu for the sack?

but he still wants to play his only style and that's the issue. We've got nobody who can continue to play that way and be good at it. Injuries glaore but tactics are all wrong pretty much every game week.

Did he not get smacked in the balls?

Normally I’d agree, but I’m allowing him that one.

Perhaps for the second one, a few mins before though, De Ligt places his hand on his back (no shoving motion) and he went down like a sack of spuds. It's a little like the boy who cried wolf, when he goes down you always think he's simulating.

Spurs have got 11 players out. I feel a bit sorry for Ange to be honest. But losing 3 nil at half time to a team that doesn’t score goals doesn’t really give you anywhere to hide.

Bit of a stretch
Really? Minteh did a two footed tackle from behind on Dalot, that's usually a red, then he got a yellow later and received no punishment for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Baleba clotheslined Zirkzee in the area denying a goal scoring opportunity. That is also a red by the rules, no legitimate tackle attempt.

You have to wonder about the correlation between Angeball style of play and the injuries. Every club gets injuries but Spurs are 15th in the league and play kamikaze football regardless of the team that's picked. You can moan about the squad strength if you are struggling break into the top six not when you are behind Fulham, Brentford, Brighton, Forest and Bournemouth and fighting to get in the top half.

As long as they do not get relegated that is the main thing. Spurs were never going to compete with their injuries and changing play style is just pointless. Footballers are not rocket scientists. They need it kept simple.

I honestly cannot see Ange getting the sack with their current injury list. He is the least of Spurs problem.

the aim was achieving 4th, europa league not avoiding relegation.

It's only a red and a penalty if the defender hasn't made an attempt to play the ball, he did in this case hence yellow
