Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [20th - 25th May 2023]

That as was said at the time was a block...he clearly makes a play at the ball yesterday. It isnt the same.
You really need to take the red tinted glasses off.

Lol

The Liverpool hits two of those points in the law.

Distance and he didn’t have time to adjust his body. It his his trailing leg…..

Totally the opposite of the block you claimed back in March.

His trailing leg? Its trailing because hes playing the ball...unless you normally run like that?

He's clearly played that. Absolute nonsense.

You know the difference between a block and an attempted clearance right? Also yesterday you were adamant it hit his hip, make your mind up.
First replay I seen was this morning.

Again go watch both videos.

There’s other factors.

Distance and did the defender have a chance to change his body shape.

Forest player open his body and kicked the ball but someone claims it was a block.

What’s the difference in the villas “block”

Don’t believe you ever commented on the Newcastle disallowed goal.

Others did.

got a link to the Newcastle one?

yes he did, he moves his leg towards the ball, that's changing body shape. i.e a deliberate attempt to play the ball.

Do you think it was offside yes or no?

Dermot on Newcastle disallowed goal

"I don't really see why the VAR got involved because, for me, Felipe clearly goes to kick the ball out for a corner. I think Jacob Murphy is behind hin would intercept the ball, he knows that.

"He goes to kick the ball out for a corner Murphy's not in an offside position. So he's quite entitled to be there. He goes kick the ball out for a corner."

So you think both goals should have stood yes?

The Newcastle goal was more a goal then the Liverpool one was and that for sure.

Liverpool is hitting a few of lines above.

Ball in the Air and distance can probably put the instinctive stretch there also

So going by that then Liverpool goal was rightly disallowed.

Is the Law stupid 100% yes

I'm more surprised that Henderson wasn't given a penalty from what I saw of the game.

Offside rules have always been a little odd, such as what happened with the Salah (I think?) goal earlier in the season. Defender attempts to stop a pass whilst he's offside, ends up just flicking it on and the rules magically say Salah is then onside. I'm not sure how you write a rule to stop that without it being subjective.

You can take the subjectivity out of the way by saying any touch off of the defender means it's not offside but you can guarantee that we'll have situations where a player takes a shot, it brushes off a defender and falls to an attacker who was in an offside position. There's no easy solution with every aspect of offside and whatever change you make might solve one issue but will only create new ones.

Personally I'd rather a black and white rule, it will have it's issues but at least it will be consistent, which it's not right now.

I still can't get over Forest getting lucky matches against lacklustre Brighton, Chelsea and Arsenal squads. What a joke. But it highlights what a squad can do when they want to fight and play for each other vs Leicester's self destruction. Tbh going down might be beneficial. Clear out and build a proper team again rather than a squad of individuals and taggers on.
