Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 23rd October 2023]

Ffs knew I missed us smashing Palace and I did call a Liverpool penalty:D

Did catch match of the day when I was placed on a ward!!

How on earth did Liverpool not go down to 10 men also???

They better have this op done before we smash Dortmund !!!!

I think any player who went down for a head injury needs to go off the pitch for a mandatory 15mins* minimum for "Assessment" before being allowed to come back on. The team can decide whether they want to sub him or not. You know, concussion is serious, they need to take it seriously!

This should stop anyone faking head injury.

* At least 5 mins, so not to allow them to get off the pitch and come back on after 30 seconds.

I really love watching us lately. Just goals everywhere. Looking like real contenders for top 6 or better at the moment.

Unai Emery got really disrespected by Arsenal and their fans. He is a better manager than Arteta imo but it was always a fail trying to follow on from Wenger. Currently on a 58% win percentage at Villa is great. Seems the defeat against Newcastle was just a blip.

Villa are my dark horse to get top 4 this year and it is nice to see them back up the pointy end again :)

Then you'd have more deliberate elbows to the head to get opposition players off the pitch.

Well, then that's a red card for the other guy, no change there, since when did deliberate elbow to the head doesn't get punished?

To be fair he wasn't great for us. Just didn't fit. He never seemed to have a gameplan.

He got you into a Europa League final and barely missed out on Champions League. Then got sacked after a few bad results the next season. He never got a chance imo but following on from Wenger was always going to be impossible.

Inches away from him and if Mudryk hadn't headed it off target it wouldn't have hit him.

Edit
The view behind Saliba is pretty obvious he wasn't trying to stick his arm in the way.
I think this was a great example of why you sometimes need multiple camera angles (and I guess by inference why you can't expect a ref to make the right call every time).

First viewing it looked like a pen to me, waving his warm up in the air near the ball. "Taking a risk" as it were.
Then you see the other angle and realise his arm is way behind and he's clearly attempting a header, it only hits his arm that was already raised when it's travelled past his head and he's not even looking at his hand. It wasn't like he went "oh **** this ball is going past me I need to do a Suarez", very much ball to hand.

Clinical from us yesterday. Incredible subs as well, that goal will do Bailey no end of good. Still don't think we'll get top 5 though. It's not enough to thrash teams at home, we need to get our away form going to really make waves. Not that I'm complaining, it's a very weird experience going to Villa park and feeling like the favorites every time...

And our next 3 games are Luton (H), Forest (A), Fulham (H).. you'd expect 7 points there but if we want to get top whatever then 9 are a must.

Definitely. It's all for naught if we can't perform better in cup competitions as well, need to pull our socks up the next two games and show Europe we mean business.
