Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 25th November 2024]

I went into this one feeling quietly confident but they just haven’t clicked.

A typical ‘Newcastle’ performance this one.
I was loudly confident :D Though it was a great opportunity for a win today and then with Palace coming up would have given us some breathing space ahead of the upcoming usual capitulation at Liverpool.
We can blame a few things but simply not good enough, we can keep kidding ourselves but it’s a bang average side.

I only got the second half of the game. But it was strangley odd being at home with a full stadium.

Didn't think for a minute that West Ham would get anything there. Just an odd performance for me re Newcastle.

Although sometimes I do find the Monday eve games can just be odd in anycase.

Hopefully for you lot there was a large case of the Monday night fever happening. As really you didn't seem to offer much on the pitch last night (as said, only caught the second half though).

First half we were definitely better than the second. You've got your elite teams, then the dross at the bottom then the 12 to 14 others are much of a muchness really. Any can beat the other on the day, home or away. The London teams seldom do well this far norf and on paper you'd think WH at home would be something of a banker. Shame really as its in the start of a run of games post international break where some momentum could really see us making something of the season.

Was the challenge on Wilson not a penalty because he was offside or was that just rubbish VAR again?
Just VAR. To me it was one of those that they seem to leave to the refs call. I think if he’d have given it then it wouldn’t be overturned, similarly he didn’t give it so they didn’t interfere.
Ref wasn’t that great but it’s what we have come to expect. Blaming that decision is a bit of scapegoating and if we are honest we’d likely not have got another anyway. While we are moaning about the pen we should feel lucky he didn’t book Schar or Big Joe for leaving one in and persistent fouling that would mean they’d sit out the palace game next weekend. Can’t have it both ways.
