Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 27th August 2023]

I mean, of course it has. They have been quite crap for a season now and the general quality in the team has fallen off a bit of cliff from its peak. VVD was the best CB in the world for a couple of years and now hes a liability. Their midfield is a mess which means the fact TAA and Robertson can't defend is being horribly exposed. Their forward line has gone from being absolutely world class to being misfiring at best and teams can mark Salah out of the game without having to worry about the rest of the forward line picking up the slack and punishing them.

Stuff changes so quickly these days that you are only as good as your last season and once teams smell weakness they don't care who you are.
Gakpo, Jota, Salah, Nunez and Dias is are very good options up front. Especially when you compare it to others around them.

Funny old game this, we've been terrible. Ironically get an actual lad on who scores and he scores (still not seeing what gakpo brings).

Oh and for all the arm chair refs in here isn't there a new rule this season that states its only a red if its inside the box for last man fouls where the ball is played..

That’s why I can’t understand why Newcastle backed off after the goal and red. They were all over Liverpool. Yeah they’ve had chances this half but you can’t try and see a 1 goal lead out with Liverpools forwards.

Not if it’s a clear goal scoring opportunity

On their own they are decent but they aren't a front line at the moment. When the front 3 was Mane, Salah and Firmino they were just fantastic together. They complemented each other. This current set is just a bunch of players. Klopp doesn't even know who is part of your best front 3.

They are levels down from a few years ago.
