Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 27th August 2023]

The Spurs result wasn't all that shocking, Fulham had just given Arsenal a game, and equalised when they were down to 10 men.

What was surprising was the team picked by the Greek restaurant owner, who stands front of house for the full opening hours.

Rangers got a spanking, is there s danger of losing the 2nd Scottish champs league place?
Baz is your guy for that but looking at this :

You'd imagine they would be ai.

Stupidly it's possible (probable even) that it's better for Scotland that Rangers lost. The way you earn coefficient points means in some instances and it probably applies to a side like Rangers in particular, it's easier to pick up more points in the Europa than the Champions League. Rangers in the CL would be favourites to end up bottom in their group and picking up sub 8 coefficient points. Getting out of a Europa group would likely earn them 10+ points. They could even not make it out of a Europa group but still pick up more points than in the CL as you get points per win & draw.

The season we won the CL and Chelsea won the EL, Chelsea picked up more coefficient points as they picked up more wins along the way.

I was going to make a joke about City getting a tough draw for a change but they got loads last season to be fair. I've just read that Utd have now been drawn at home 11 consecutive times in domestic Cup competitions. They must take it in turns as to who gets all the luck.
