Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 28th December 2023]

Pep has taken the SI badge off his jacket. Probably worried the bouncers won’t let him into the boozer post game.

Dyche Really does suit Everton with his frothing at the mouth spitting and screaming, you’d think he was a fan looking at them when the camera pans round

Pickford magic :p

Hey remember when we got absolute consistency amongst decisions? Nope, me neither!
It was much easier to accept inconsistent decisions when they were being made in a split second without numerous replays and tedious delays to the game.

VAR for anything other than offsides, and the sooner these are automated the better, has been and will continue to be terrible for the game. We might get a few more correct decisions but not enough to justify the delays and inconsistencies that supporters will not accept.

I couldn’t agree more. They need to bin it off. Too many decisions in football are subjective, even with 10 replays.

I was at the cricket on Boxing Day for a bit. It’s implemented so well in that sport but the pace of the games allows it to be and the fans in the stadium see and hear what is going on during a review. The officials however are so seldom wrong and when they are you are talking millimetres on a ball that was travelling up to 100mph in some cases. However they are dealing with absolutes. It either hit the bat or it didn’t. It bounced outside off, or it didn’t. It hit the ground before he caught it or it didn’t. After the review there is no debate as there is a uniform application of the rules, there is nothing left up to any interpretation . in football it no longer seems we have that anymore. VAR has regressed the game.

This is half the issue. Consistency.

If they were given every week hardly anyone will have an issue but we are having games arguably decided by officials. IMO its a penalty but there was a far worse one not given at the weekend.

How VAR is implemented is a joke and the officials are garbage.
