No, there were pages of Newcastle fans saying that on balance, given our injury crisis and (at the time) two domestic cup runs plus the league, an extra mid-week game wouldn’t do our stretched squad any favours.

That’s different from “being glad”, that’s “being resigned to the facts and being pragmatic”.

Just back from the game, and that was the worst i have seen us under Howe, it’s ok getting beat(we generally get beat on Boxing Day, 47 and counting), but the manor of that defeat was shocking, we probably should have been 2-0 down before we even scored and deserved absolutely nothing from the game. A spanking next week off Liverpool and a loss against the Mackems will most likely see the fans attitude turn and Howe lose his job.

Disagree about the picture, it’s class for me. Some of their pundits and commentary though are awful.
