He wants a left footer on the left side as he firmly believes it gives way better options to move the ball forward. ten Hag said from the start that Maguire can't play left side like he did win the original partnership with Lindelof. Varane is tight sided too so with Martinez out Shaw is the only option. Dalot has been 50:50 at left back this season but we don't have many other options. Reguillon the only other one but he's not great.
