Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [3rd - 5th February 2024]

@robfosters just for you this.

Havertz and any other tool that decides to back (aka a Harry Kane) in or deliberately cause a player to fall like VVD does needs binning. Thats a ridiculous challenge with zero attempt to get anywhere near the ball.

Hopefully Brentford can get a result to keep it all close. Out of the three I would rather Arsenal win the league. I guess the big positive is that Arsenal have already played Liverpool twice and Liverpool still need to play City so a draw there would be perfect for them. Beat 115 away and they are right in it.
Mind you, Arsenal still have to play City too and whereas Liverpool have to play City at Anfield, Arsenal have to play City at City.

Van Dyke was weak. Youth team players are taught the first contact is the winner. Van dyke lost the contact. Poor

Just watched the highlights and VVD of today makes Maguire look like Maldini.

Didn't you see the bit where I said "beat 115 away" ;) City home or away doesn't really make a difference though. It is not the same as going to Anfield, Old Trafford or The Emirates.

Are your eyes playing tricks? After havertz did a kane he was holding his shin, zero contact with his head
It’s why I’m asking for a replay? They pointed out on commentary that he was a lucky boy and they were surprised that VAR nothing having better look /shrug

What did amuse me was that while Chelsea’s 2 £100m+ midfielders stank the place up and got battered at home to wolves, Jorginho, who they cast off for just £12m was MotM in a big top of the table clash against Liverpool. Just put a little smile on my face.
I'm guessing in theory if Chelsea don't get this group of players actually producing they could be in a right mess for years as they've got so many players bought over 8 year contracts

Depends on the what they are paying them. The issue teams have is no necessarily the initial outlay, its the ability to offload those highly paid players. United have been masters of overpaying for players and overpaying wages.

Lets say Enzo is on £220k/week and Chelsea want to sell him in the summer. The best any other club will offer is £130k/week to him. Chelsea now have a player who can either leave and earn £90k/week less for the next 7 or so years (~£32m in wages) or he can sit tight and just get paid those wages. Lets say a club will pay Chelsea £50m for him along with that £130k salary. Now Chelsea have lost £50m on his purchase price and they will likely have to either pay Enzo off to leave or drop the transfer fee a lot to allow the other club to come somewhere near to matching his current wages while not making their total expenditure on him too high.

With City, Spurs and Arsenal all coming up for Chelsea I dont see their position getting better any time soon. The club is in a mess and I actually sort of feel for Pochettino, some truly terrible decision making higher up has put Chelsea into a situation that could hamper them for years to come.

Finally, all these years after they poached Cashly off us they will finally get their just deserts...my heart bleeds listening to their crying fans who think they have a history that was earned not bought (by hook or crook). They are right royally up the creek, they need to raise £100m by end of June or something lol all those average players who went for the money will just sit there and bleed them, why would they take a pay cut unless it was to move to a bigger club, and why would the bigger clubs help them? Yes, I realise the irony that Arsenal helped them significantly with Havertz for some reason.

Next for justice is 115, let's hope the charges and punishment stick.
