Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [3rd Dec - 5th Dec 2024]

I'm I reading this right. Liverpool have scored 29 goals this season and Salah has scored 13 of them and assisted 8. That ridiculous. If Liverpool don't sign him to a new contract they are mad. Hes scored or assisted 72% of Liverpools league goals this season.

While last night's result was obviously a disappointment, I think there is plenty to still be positive about.

Amorim hasn't been in place for a month yet, he's having to use matches as intensive training sessions to try and gauge what players will fit his system moving forward, and as usual there are injuries and suspensions to deal with.

In spite of this we comfortably matched Arsenal in the first half, a very good side, and they were only able to score from 2 corners, something that most teams are finding difficult to stop. Corners are something all teams are going to have to seriously look at, it can't be rocket science. Ultimately though it comes down to excellent delivery, even great technical players seem to struggle taking corners.

The second half things fell apart a bit, mainly due to Arsenal improving and quite a few subs being made to chase the game, which didn't work. Hojlund was a slight disappointment, he struggled to hold the ball up, but that's not really what he's best at.

I didn't find last night that disappointing tbh.

Didn't offer much going forward, but particularly in the first half, it looked like there was some sort of plan.

And yeh, it won't surprise me in the slightest that we see other teams try these corners...

How much does he want and for how long? If he wants 400k per week for 5 years would they be mad then? Too many clubs get caught with aging players on stupid wages. Maybe they should have just taken the saudi money when it was offered.

£400k for 3 years would be good value for his services as long as he doesn't fall off a cliff. I 5 year contract, maybe not but how much would it cost to replace him. I would suggest that he is irreplaceable at the moment and the value he delivers currently is insane. Its not like he has shown any real signs of slowing down either. Longer contracts for older players are always a risk but there are always special cases.
