Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9th - 10th December 2023]

Bit annoyed by the VAR in the Arsenal match, to me it looked like Cash handled the ball first so surely it should be a penalty not a freekick to Villa? They didn't seem to focus enough on that, they kept rolling the segment where it brushes Havertz arm. It's like they were so obsessed reviewing the immediate precursor to the goal they ignored what happened a second before.

Accidental handball in the penalty area not being a penalty has been thing for a while now...

22 seconds into the clip? Looks to me like its 'natural' movement for someone off balance, add in the distance between the 2 players

This ones more of a penalty for me

Ssshhh, you are supposed to ignore that. Poor ange was working on a shoe string budget!

Who gets sacked 1st? Poch, Ten Hag or Howe
I think Newcastle only sack Howe if a top top manager becomes available and lets it be known that he will take the job, i love Howe and I don’t believe anyone else could have kept us up 18 months ago, but he has shown he’s a bit naive when up against tier 1 managers. I have no doubt that if we do want to be in the same class as Mancity or Liverpool we have to accept that we need a tier 1 manager to get us there.

I think his naivety is really showing this season. I read on twitter that your subs have had 25 minutes playtime over the past 3 games - he's running the team into the ground.

That was my complaint yesterday, ok previous games we had oap‘s and kids on the bench, but yesterday we had both Wilson and Longstaff on the bench and we were still in the game at half time, bringing both those players on at half time would have brought some energy into the team, but he waited until the game was out of sight before bringing them on.

I said this last week. Sacrifice quality for legs especially when 3-1 up at home to Chelsea!

FFP will stop that happening. You will have your moments but they will cut the legs from underneath you with spending. You won't be able to pay the wages if someone peaks to a top top talent and they will be moving on. Unless you can exploit some loopholes you won't be consistent anything. 15 years too late.

Saudi teams buys players and loan them to Newcastle!

Two players back from injury. Not wise throwing them in for a full 45mins.

He could have easily played Hall more than once and he can cover multiple positions. Don’t think he’s been all that bad also when played.

Krafth, Dumment and Richie probably available for some of the games?

See the Newcastle fans dancing after the final whistle at Spurs? Howe has rightly bought himself a lot of time and patience with the fans and still has plenty left. I really think he'll end up at England anyway, there isn't anyone else who could or would take it. I also think he'd do a great job there. He can clearly get something out of players that other managers can't. Potter may be a shout but I very much doubt it. The timing and convenience may suit Newcastle's owners well, may even get a bit of compo from the FA to help the FFP :p

Howe has done a cracking job and you would be mad to look to get rid of him. That could see all the good work of the past few years evaporate.

Hes between a rock and hard place at the moment. Fundamentally Newcastle are doing fine in this seasons league. They are like a better version of United. Both are still OK in league position even if there are large issues right now. Howe has set himself up with high expectations after last season so I think his bad luck with injuries coupled with an unwillingness to take a drop in quality for the sake of protecting players. Much of it is bad luck lets be honest here.

He was rotating there’s a full 11 out that looks like a Half decent lower end table team.

Top of the injuries charts but you actually look at the type of injuries that tells a different story. I believe we sit 5th with muscle related injuries. The type that you can semi avoid. A lot of them are freak impact injuries. Two dislocated shoulder's etc.

People on here calling him stubborn for not making subs. Thinking back a few games we had 3 Goalkeepers on the bench. He also did throw on the teenagers against Chelsea!!!! Maybe a little late but he did take a few players off. I fact I would go on to say he’s one of the very few managers that’s shown the ability to learn and change his style.

PSG game? We couldn’t even name a full sub bench even with players from the academy sitting on it. Sunday he had two good playable players available and even then they have been rushed back from injury. The only one I don’t understand that he’s not getting more game time is Hall.

If you ask me Howe doing a fantastic job with the resources he has available. Still a chance to get out of the group of death when everyone had written us off. League cup progress knocking out City on the way. Still within touching distance of that champions league spot. We just got to make it through December without losing too much ground. There’s a few players that should be back and maybe a few loans to help out.

Newcastle would be daft to want Howe gone, he's obviously got something good going on there, allow him to make mistakes, it's his 1st time juggling 4 competitions with extenuating circumstances of having basically a whole first 11 out.

@Bigpig really doesn't like going on about injuries, honest, but he'll not stop going on about them. Reminds me of Mourinho.
I was waiting for you bud. My reply was in response to Howe make more subs. :D what subs? Your almost as bad as Klop last season.

Can’t keep my name out your mouth just like Klop couldn’t help mouthing about the toon :p
