Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th - 16th September 2015]

So now they've sent Wilson out, we only have 2 strikers, neither of which are proven.

"On Wilson, Van Gaal said that he had opted to send the striker out on loan — Derby County were reported to be the club he had joined last night — but that United had an emergency recall clause in the event they need him back."

Still rather thin on numbers mind!

These LvG news reports are worrying really, I can see it all ending in tears at some point.

He needs to try and take the shackles off and adapt his style.

If he goes I think we'll put Giggs in charge, though I'd like Klopp ideally. He's far from flawless but plays very entertaining football and the players would love him.

Still, I've not lost faith in LvG yet.

Me neither

Main problem is this has been brewing for quite a few weeks now. The press have pretty much tried to second guess every single transfer, made up stories along the way to sell their wretched rags and every single time LVG has had no comment to make on tranfers. He has been tetchy in interviews.

The UK press have well and truly had their noses put out of joint. Look at the transfers we made this summer. All of the confirmed transfer stories, realiably broken by foreign journo's not the UK **** peddlers. So since the last Premier League game, the knives have well and truly been out.

Football fans would be foolish to think that its only United where the senior pro's are holding council on training, tactics etc with the respective managers. If LVG is such a tyrant, then why would he even consider holding council with the captain and vice captain.

Its an absolute travesty for these football pro's who are having it so so bad under LVG. I mean just look at Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling it's really damaged them hasn't it. Oh hang on no, from the start of the season, probably the two most inform defenders for club and country.

** Please don't resort personal attacks **

so. let's all be clear, there's no emergency unless they call back wilson. are the blisters forming from all that digging, lois?

there'll be blisters forming on pellegrinis hands as he furiously rubs them together in anticipation as his neighbours fortress crumbles

It already crumbled

well. (frustratingly) it hasn't but i do think the recent man utd fan philosiphy of 'well, we played pap but hey we won' has run it's course

long term, i think many a utd fan would rather see an attacking flair with risk of shipping goals be inputted and iron out the consequences as opposed to the recent dross of ... whatever lvg's tactics or philosiphy is

Yeah just like that lovely bloke capello who held talks. It's happened to so many like this before that player power has the manager rightly or wrongly outted. It's laughable you think LVG has ever been the kind of manager to hold nice meetings on players views. If there has ever been a manager where it's my way or no way it's him.

Load of bloody nonsense

No it isn't. Time will tell who is right on him getting the push and you actually think it will be easy to sack giggs? Not a hope, the last thing united need is giggs anywhere near the managers job before he's proved himself elsewhere.

Courtois out of the Everton game. Reports now saying that it's a serious meniscus injury and he could be out for at least ten weeks.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed Heung-Min Son is ready to make his Tottenham Hotspur debut this weekend.

put your house on him scoring

The was a Manchester Evening News thing linked to by the BBC gossip page saying Rooney wasn't spotted going to the team hotel, so could miss tomorrow's game, and I thought they could be making a mountain out of a molehill because obviously there are a million and one reasons he might have to turn up late or whatever, but,

So Rooney's out of the Liverpool game?

Edit :: there's stuff from journos about a hamstring rumour...

No club can be prepared for injuries; I mean you can have a good squad, however injuries are unavoidable and certain players are not easily replaced in terms of quality.

Do you not find it pretty 'mental' for lack of a better word, that Manchester United spent a lot of money on transfers and end up with such, poor, striking options.

It is honestly staggering.

Ughh, here i was looking forward to the match too and now it'll just be lob the ball at fellaini for 90mins.

Rooney out will be a big loss for us, fancied our chances with him in the team :(

Worse for you is Rodgers going out and claiming that Sturridge is the fittest he's ever been. With the way every bold claim Rodgers makes coming back to haunt him so badly I suspect Sturridge will pick up some injury to keep him out for his longest period yet, so what a couple of years.

I do wonder what LVG will do, Martial up top, too early for a start for him? Depay or Fellaini are the two other most obvious options. I think I'd go Young wide and Depay upfront and see what happens, try Martial wide or upfront in the second half, how early depending on how well Utd are playing.
