Didn't think the Vardy one was a penalty at all, basically two players running side by side and as soon as they got in the box he jumped sideways, but he already twisted sideways and was on his way down before getting one leg across the defender. It was a pretty cynical dive that interestingly maybe should have been a yellow and a freekick.
I'm not clear on this, is a dive supposed to be an instant freekick the other way or is it supposed to be play on and book the player when play stops? I always thought it was the latter as it's happened loads of times but usually because the ball tends to go straight out when a player dives or get cleared into the stands. If he'd got a yellow and Villa got a freekick they wouldn't have gotten that goal straight afterwards and Villa may have won.
Either way, Villa, end of the game Gestede was god awful when he came on. Showed zero fight, zero pace, zero effort, didn't close people down at all, didn't do anything to help the team in the slightest. Ayew kept giving the ball away so cheaply when they were under pressure. He would decide to run the ball but kick it 15 yards ahead instead of 5 and lose the ball. Amavi, don't think he deserved to be sent off for those two specific incidents close to each other, first was for kicking the ball away I thought but wasn't sure. Ignoring potential red cards for lots of fouls, he rushed into everything, he constantly tried to get to the ball by going through players, not horribly or dangerously, normally on his feet but utterly stupidly. These are situations where good defends get to the player then marshal them where they want, cut off passing opportunities and put pressure on them. Instead he rushed on gave away stupid fouls and increased pressure on the team. With the ball he consistently like Ayew tried to run the ball with almost no success. He had a easy pass on while inches from the side line and instead tried to do the defender... made it about two foot before losing possession. Haven't seen him much before, seems utterly brain dead.
Richards is over enthusiastic at times but still a beast. Made a bunch of crucial blocks but really should have tried to clear the ball for the Vardy goal. Horrible situation for a CB as a touch could put it in the back of the net but with the other CB the wrong side of Vardy he should have tried anyway.
Also not sure on Guzan, his launch into Dyer was so freaking dangerous, keepers get away with so many awful challenges but that was so reckless with basically no chance of anything but destroying Dyer... I think he should have gotten at least a yellow for it. Dyer is freaking lucky to be okay after that.
