Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th April - 16th April 2014]

Was a tough game after Wigan on Saturday.

Hopefully few more players back from injury - put Hull to the sword at the weekend.

Lots of Giroud haters in here. Personally I like him, he is always a threat. He can't run with the ball, can't take it past people but he gets the goals.

Nice win for Arsenal. Only watched the second half so I guess the first half was bad.

3 more pts in the bag. Game on!

No disguised swearing.

In all seriousness, I think Giroud is the sort of player we need in our team, he gives us another option - I kind of like the guy.

However should he be leading the line on his own? No - the way our team is set out to play it does not work. You have Ozil and Cazorla looking to get the ball in behind, Giroud sometimes shows great movement but he is not a threat on the break. At the same time, you play the ball in to his feet and ask him to go at the defence... he is not a threat there. He is a poacher, which is a great thing to have in your (ahem!) arsenal but its not what we need leading our line on his own.

PHEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW glad we got the 3 pts in the end. First half we were crap till Poldi smashed the first goal in. Second half we were much better and again Poldi with another smashing strike and finally le donkey decides to put the ball in the back of the net, unlike the first half where he tried to be too cute and dink it over :/

MOTM for me was Poldi although Cazorla had a pretty decent game and made things happen. Good to see Rambo back and get an assist for Poldi's second goal...nice little header there from him. He needs to stay fit for the rest of the season.

Over to Everton now, hopefully Palace can pull off a win tomo...would love it if they did.

Poldi was immense, play him instead of giroud he could be a striker ;)

Tried that already and he was just as useless as le donkey, better to have him out on the left than thru the middle.

Id rather see Sanogo play through the middle, once he nails his first goal i think he will score plenty...hes got pace which le donkey hasnt got..just his touch is poor but that will come with time.

To be fair to him he doesn't pick the side. Giroud works best when we have players like Ramsey who push forward. His job is to hold the ball up long enough for the midfield to join in.

He will never be great at chasing after the ball but he is great at shielding it and making a clever pass. When Ramsey was out he was left on his own.

I'm not saying he is close to world class or someone we would all choose if we could pick anyone but he does what he can well. Threat in the air at set pieces, holds the ball up, scores goals, creates goals.

Games to goals ratio isn't too shabby either :p

Again, great win puts the pressure back on everton. Need the two Manchester teams to show up and palace to fight for their lives. It's going to be close...

We actually played football in the second half! First time in ages we've played well. Ramsey coming back is a big boost. I'm a massive Podolski fan and feel sorry for the way he has been treated, only his 4th full 90 mins in 2 seasons according to the commentators. No one I'd rather see with the ball at his feet in the area than him.

Poldi as much as i love him too just doesnt do enough when he does start at times. He was anonymous against a championship side ie Wigan...did FA and didnt really track back defensively so left our left side completely open.

Tonight though he was superb in every dept, he really does well against West Ham...scores quite a few against them so Wenger made the right choice in starting him and leaving him on for the full 90mins. He worked hard and for me was the MOTM for his goals. But i wish he would be more consistent in his performances as a lot of the times he is largely inconspicous for majority of games.

Ramsey coming back is a huge huge boost, when he came on we looked a lot more livelier and even Giroud was starting to play some decent balls in. I just hope that when Ozil gets back against Hull, he gives us that added boost for our last few games like he did at the beginning of the season...when we were on fire.

Should Jarvis have gone down?

I don't think so, but pressure should be put on the ref to make the decision despite the player trying to be honest.

Players should not have to go down for it to be a foul, the foul occurs regardless of a player staying on his feet or not, referees should be less rubbish.
