Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th April - 16th April 2014]

Missed the everton game... did they have a bad game or palace play really well?

Lukaku do much? Some games he seems to do very little

It's still much closer than those odds suggest imo. All three teams can easily be drop points, as tonights game shows.

I agree... Odds are always volatile right after a team drops points unexpectedly.

But still - quite a turnaround for Liverpool. Just a few weeks ago they were 8-1 outsiders, and Chelsea were odds-on favourites.

It is a pretty amazing goal. The Barca player should really have reached the ball first though, after Bale punts it forward. Bale had to run 20% farther!

correct though real player deserves a lot of credit for taking the other defender out of the opportunity with his positioning but to sprint like that, get it onto your favoured foot and convert into that area is incredible

no other player in the world could do this, not even ronaldo. that is pretty superhuman

It was a good goal, no doubt, but shambles defensively, when broken down he knocked it long past a slower player and beat him to it. Then tapped it in past a hapless keeper. Because Bale over ran it the only option he had was an outstretched toe poke so really the only way he could possibly score was low and straight shot, so Pinto left his legs wide open for the nutmeg when it was the only option.

There are MANY players who can do that, superhuman, he beat a single player, who was slower than him.

We've seen the spank it into the corner and run after it thing dozens of times, happens a few times every season including the running off the pitch avoiding some **** trying to foul the person. The difference is most of the time it's beating a fullback with two cb's and maybe a DM waiting when they get round the fullback. This is Barca, so the fullback was AWOL and the CB's start on the half way line so after beating the single CB it was straight towards goal with no other defenders. If that was 90% of other teams he'd have had 2-3 more players to beat when he got in to the box.

What a bottle by Everton.

They won't get a chance like this again in a while.

Arsenal will be stronger next year as will the big clubs above, plus United and even Spurs.

Bale used his pace to outrun a badly positioned full back, and that's it, his pace carried him clear and a regulation finish.

Good goal, good player but that's about it.

Messi would be disgusted to travel that distance and not beat 5 or 6 en route to goal.

Christ, that Bale goal's amazing. I've never ever seen a player knock the ball past a defender then score a goal, never. What we have witnessed tonight will go down in history as one of the defining moments of football. Bale is superhuman no question about it.
