Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 15th December 2014]

Southampton seem to be in free-fall..

Some of our recent performances in the defeats have been ok it has been the odd error and not putting the ball in the back of the net, but today was just terrible.

At least Schneiderlin will be fit again soon.

That's life, some tough defeats, a very tough away loss during a period of games close together will hurt any team regardless of being in the top of bottom 4. I don't think any team will have as tough a run of games nor do as well in two of them. When you have several tough games in a row and take some hard beats it's both natural for the players to be more tired and to have dropped in confidence. It was not a good time to go away to a team in desperate need of a win who work hard.

It could be a tough time for them right through to February frankly but then their fixture list gets a lot friendlier, get a win or two early and they'll be winning again.

Dortmund lost again today and picked up yet another injury. Barca also dropped points away to Getafe in a 0-0 draw. Both had 2 shots on target, Getafe had 4 shots total, Barca had 23 :p

Arsenal, if we win we we won't gain any places unless our GD improves by 6+. If we lose we could end up dropping 3 places potentially I think.

Ramsey out for at least a month with a hamstring injury, as such Wenger called Coquelin back from loan at Charlton. Had he not sent him on loan a month ago Coquelin could have actually played one or two games for us instead of Ramsey avoiding the injury in the first place.... nope, not with Wenger in charge.

I was hoping Chelsea & Man City drop some points today.
They both won.
Lampard was an inspired signing for Man City. This guy is the ultimate supersub.

Southampton are gradually dropping down the table.
West Ham are still up there though.

This year I think the finishing order will be

1 Chelsea
2 Man City
3 Man Utd
4 Aresenal
5 Liverpool

The top 3 are already in order.
Arsenal are 5 points away from 4th, with 1 game in hand.
Liverpool are 5 points away from 5th, with 1 game in hand.

It looks straight forward, now.

Seems Leicester can't win without Clatternburg,

They have not won any of their last 10 games.
With Clattenburg's assistance, they scored 5 against Man Utd.
It just goes to show what a freak result that was.

Never understand Pardew in putting strikers on the wing, especially when there in form. Did it with Demba Ba, we bought Cisse and moved him out there and Ba lost for, moved Cisse out there when he was in for and he lost it and now Perez has a few goal, looked sharp up top with the correct movement and now hes out on the wing.

That absolutely ****ing has to be a penalty.

Are you blind? Firstly Welbeck clipped Janmatt's foot which is why the freekick was given.

As for Giroud, he made no attempt at the ball and purposefully put his foot out ONLY to be caught and in doing so studded Tiote in the shin, if anything it was a yellow for Giroud.

If Giroud was making a genuine attempt at the ball and not sticking out his foot on purpose forcing contact(it's the same as hanging a leg to force contact with a keeper, except in this case he stuck his leg miles out way beyond normal) then it could have been a penalty however had he not stuck his leg out stupidly far Tiote wouldn't have caught him.

EDIT:- in this situation when you purposefully put a leg out just to be caught you are basically diving, he was in fact diving and attempting to get a penalty, it should certainly have been a yellow. He also didn't exactly get it right and ended up studding Tiote in the shin, he was very lucky not to get a yellow card.

Cheers for the over-reactions there lads. That was typed before the benefit of a replay, at first glance it looked absolutely nailed on for me.

Welbeck is such an enigma, he comes up with goals he has no right to score (the disallowed scoop being case and point) and then he screws up far more clear cut chances.
