Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 15th December 2014]

Cahill must have some dirt on Foy. He should have been sent off for the tackle in the first half but to not give him the 2nd yellow for diving, when he'd already correctly booked Willian for diving earlier, was ridiculous.

Edit: you've got to credit JM for keeping a straight face with some of his comments.

Some pundit on BT reckons that Mingolet will be dropped tomorrow for Jones and Liverpool to start with a front 3 of Sterling Couthinio and Llalana

Who knows whether it's true but that is the rumour on twitter this evening. Not sure I understand the Mignolet/Jones change though. As bad as Mignolet has been he's still far better than Jones and he's actually done ok these last couple of games. If you were going to drop him you'd have done it weeks ago.

Pardew told BBC Sport: "We play a lot better than that usually. We missed Sissoko and I must look at myself in terms of selection of the team. We need to cope without him because he's not going to play every week. We tried to be ambitious and if that's a fault we have to accept that."

Yup. Long balls to Cisse who cannot trap a ball to save his life is true ambition. No attempt to get in behind with Perez (or anyone else for that matter) who was forced out wide. Nah let's kick it long so that 2 centrebacks who happen to be very good in the air (admittedly Mert has been pretty flappy recently) can deal with it no problem.

No level-headed Newcastle fan expects a result at Arsenal but ffs when you come out like that with that set-up and that team and then spout that **** you have to wonder about the sanity of the fans that are happy with this weirdo as our manager.

2 centrebacks who happen to be very good in the air

1 centreback who is good in the air... and a right back being forced to sit in at CB because we have no others available. I'm not saying its the type of football you should look to be playing, but on paper it wasn't the worst idea in the world, surely?

I could understand dropping Mignolet, if Jones wasn't a joke :o. I just hope the game's interesting/isn't just a cripple fight with zero quality or chances.

I can't when the game is manu away, but whatever, I'm likely going to miss the second half, can only imagine it being a good thing at the moment

Regardless, he's great in the air, is he not?

Cisse is a poacher, nothing more. So yeah, there couldn't have been a worst game plan.
