Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 16th February 2016]

The penalty was debatable, I can see both sides of the argument for that one. I dont see how anybody can argue the foul on Ozil shouldn't have been given though.

He dropped his shoulder to go down the right but he didn't then go down the right, he ran straight into Monreal to get a penalty. If he was not the box, he wouldn't have gone down. He would have carried on running in his original natural movement

Hahahaha, that's one of the most laughable things I've read. So therefore step-overs and dropping the shoulder should be considered foul play because it deceives the opposition?

He's entitled to go whichever way he wants. If he thinks "I go down the right then I may take the ball to far to the touchline, or if I go left then I get fouled and win a penalty" you're saying that's wrong?

Of course i'm not saying that, but youre not allowed to just run into players and expect a foul. I'm saying that Vardy changed his original movement to run into a defender so he could deceive the ref. Not a penalty

The most laughable thing about the match is that red card. That **** happens 143,204 times a match in the penalty area from corners and free kicks yet nothing happens.

So a player changing his mind to win an advantage should be considered foul play? Vardy is allowed to go whichever way he wants, and one of the ways involved him getting tripped up by an outstretched leg. Doesn't matter what his decision might have been in another area of the pitch at all  He got tripped in the penalty area by an outstretched leg after Monreal had missed the tackle.

I Agree, but it was during quite a fiery period in the game and was a bone head thing to do considering he'd just been booked.

But you can't just run over peoples legs to get penalties. It's cheating. How many times have seen refs say that he's gone down too easily..

Youre going so far the other way and taking everything of proportion it's ridiculous.
Attackers can't just run into defenders and get a foul, it's a contact sport, you also can't just run into someones leg and claim they fouled when you go looking for the foul.
