Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 17th August 2016]

I don't think Rooney scoring a basic goal is going to change anything. He will either be dropped because he is **** for 99% of the game or he will play because the manager isn't allowed to drop him.

Fans consistently screamed out for him to play citing for instance that he still scores. Someone said he was great for England because he scored loads in qualifying, that he needed a penalty won by someone else to score against San freaking Marino and he was utterly awful in that game against part timers didn't matter, he scored therefore they rated him.

The thing is he's in the side for commercial reasons and every goal causes the masses to support him and act like he's a great footballer. So actually I'd say no, scoring a simple goal in a terrible overall performance is exactly what is keeping him in the Utd and England team.

What fans constantly screamed for him to play. Every single United fan I have met and spoken to thinks he is past it and stinking up the place. Go on redcafe and he is universally slated.

Young kids might still like him because he has been United main man for years but any older fans really dislike him now.

How is there not a single commentator or pundit who is will to stand up and say "that was crap" when Rooney misses his 20th simple pass of the game or when he mis-controls the ball for the 10th time.
