Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 16th April 2012]

not really, it's pretty obvious. it's about what happens on the day, ie, we put 5 past newcastle, they put 3 past you, you put 3 past us. though to put it bluntly, city were well in control of the game where they put 6 past you before evans was sent off.

Except they wasn't. Watch the game again and even the Sky commentators said that their opening goal was against the run of play, not that that is even relevant to the point you had an objection with in the first place. I'd suggest the next time you pop into a thread with a 'lol wut' comment you should actually have an actual argument to begin with because it's obvious you don't.

I'm now very nervous about the run-in. For the first team in a long time, the pressure is all on United. I fully expect City to beat us at the Etihad, so we cannot afford to drop any points from now on in; especially tomorrow against Villa, considering how poor they have been this season.

I don't remember saying it should have made a difference. As Shami said, and I and a few others said last week. Utd at their best, haven't been brilliant, City at their best, have been better than Utd.

I think if you're really going to have this argument then you have to bare in mind when the goals came in the game to define whether or not it really was a battering or not. For example one of the games you mentioned was when City beat Swansea 4-0, the reality of that game is that Swansea played very well and it wasn't until Aguero came on in the 60th minute did City take the game away from them scoring their second goal on 67th minute and then the final 2 goals in the 70th and 90th minutes respectively. Likewise the United game, as I've just said City scored against the run of play in the first half and what really made that game a 'spanking' was City's 3 goals after 90 minutes, take those 3/4 minutes out of the game and it finishes 1-3.

EDIT:

Further to one of DM's previous point these are the exact number of games both sides have scored more than 4 or more in a game (ignoring for a second whether or not the victories really were as comprehensive as the score lines suggest). City have scored 4 or more just two more times than us and are 7 goals up overall (6 of which were obviously scored today)

City;

4-0 v Swansea (H)
1-5 v Tottenham (A)
0-4 v Blackburn (A)
4-1 v Villa (H)
1-6 v Man Utd (A)
5-1 v Norwich (H)
4-0 v West Brom (H)
1-6 v Norwich (A)
Total: 38 goals scored

Man Utd;

8-2 v Arsenal (H)
0-5 v Bolton (A)
4-1 v Wolves (H)
0-5 v Fulham (A)
5-0 v Wigan (H)
0-5 v Wolves (A)
Total: 32 goals scored

Once again United's injury problems are being overlooked as well given the period City were averaging 4 a game and we were winning games 1-0 was the time that our defence/midfield and attack was changing on a week by week basis.

Aye it's been a crappy season for players suffering health issues; Fletcher, Petrov, Muamba and now this lad

RIP Morosini...much like the Muamba incident a few weeks back:( but this time the guy didnt make it.

Some of the comments on the youtube video that i watched were bloody disgusting..some right stupid ****ing trolls on there...stupid kids:mad:

Really sad news, so strange when somebody dies playing football. You get the feeling players are being pushed to the limits and this may be more regular in decades to come as we keep pushing them to do more.

I really don't think it's that. I wouldn't imagine footballers are pushed to any real physical extremes.

It's just one of those things unfortunately, perfectly (seemingly) healthy people can just drop dead... it happens.

Well I'm hoping for not only a win today but a convincing win, we need goals, something like 3 or 4-0 to settle any nerves etc. None of this resting players and starting with a weakened side, slap them all on the field and fire off quickly! :p

Likewise, we need to give them a good thrashing.

Time to unleash the Berb! (wishful thinking :()

I'd like convincing win just to shut up the naysayers crying over City's scoreline yesterday but I'd take a scrappy 1-0 right now. I don't think either Welbeck or Hernandez deserve to start at the moment, we're rotating between the two which might not be helping matters but neither are in good form at the moment so I'd like to see this today;

---------------De Gea---------------
Rafael---Evans---Ferdinand---Evra
----Carrick--Scholes--Cleverley----
Valencia------Rooney----------Nani

Subs: Amos, Jones, Smalling, Giggs, Young, Hernandez, Welbeck

I'll be happy as long as Giggs isn't starting. He should be a late impact sub to help if we're dominating a team but can't create anything. As far as I'm concerned he shouldn't be starting unless we have a big injury crisis.
