Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 16th December 2019]

Good on Chelsea for making the race for the top 4 interesting.

This probably doesn't apply quite so much to Bournemouth today, with their injury list, but I can't remember a time where just about any side can take points off any other and it not be a shock. Even Watford, who have had a terrible start to the season, could pick up points at a top 4 side without you thinking it was a crazy result given the players they have.

Liverpool to have won the league by the new year it looks like.

Please don't. I've seen Liverpool sitting at the top of the league at Christmas / New Year, too many times, only to see them throw it away. I remember the stat from last season being something like (paraphrasing) "Every team that has sat at the top of the table at the Christmas / New Year break has gone on to win the league, except two times, both of which were Liverpool".

Edit: Here's the actual quote....
Only twice in the last ten years has a team failed to win the Premier League after topping the table at Christmas... and it was Liverpool on both occasions

Definitely feels different this year though. I can't see this City team winning 5 in a row let alone 14. Can't see the Leicester charge lasting too long either, especially after today.

Liverpool always looked on edge during those times. This year reminds me of United from 99 to 2001. Watching pep disintegrate is hilarious too.
