Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14 - 15th December 2013]

Wenger has been talking Suarez up again but I'm not sure they will/can spend £80m odd on him.

80m is redicolous.

60m is what his worth. His not worth Bale money for petes sake.

Anyways he aint going nowhere this January so Wenger should shut it and concentrate in motivating our players to beat chelsea.

If we can beat chelsea then all will be forgotten last weekend!

Considering One Season Wonder went for £80 million and Damaged Goods went to Chelsea for £50 million I'll be  if he only went for £60 million.

We dont need him, and the sale would never happen but Utd were willing and able to spend 85m on Bale in the summer, so that isnt far off the price being discussed
Hadn't even considered you being able to afford him but that would be worse than Damaged Goods going to Chelsea.

He's worth whatever people are prepared to pay for him. If, for arguments sake, he fired Arsenal to a load of trophies, he'd be worth that extra £20m easily, assuming you think he's worth £60m and not 80. The prices are all a mess at the moment and I doubt it'll get better.

Highly unlikely we will get him as Liverpool are doing well and challenging for the title and plus Liverpool wont sell him to us. If they were to sell him, it wouldnt be to another EPL team.

He is worth what Liverpool put a pricetag on him, he could easily go for £80mill if a team wants to pay that much ie Real or PSG for instance. Just because you dont think hes worth that, doesnt mean Liverpool dont think that. Putting a huge pricetag on him will warn teams off, no player is worth £50 or £80mill but its what teams will pay to get a player if they are that desperate to have that player.

Liverpool refusing to sell him for £40m even when Suarez wanted to leave would have sent a message out to other teams.
If Liverpool don't get top 4, I think he'd stay for one more year but Liverpool would have to spend a bit on getting better players and raise his wages.

He's worth what someone will pay for him... that's the old adage anyway. I don't think Liverpool would benefit from selling him, even at an inflated price, but if he wants to stay he's in a great position to dramatically increase his salary and benefits.

Yep thats the saying i was looking for:). Liverpool wouldnt benefit from losing him thats a given unless they get an equally good player as Suarez in to replace him. But if they dont get CL football this season and dont challenge for the PL trophy or the FA Cup then i can see him wanting out next summer.

I'd be absolutely shocked if he did leave in Jan and if he does, it wont be to another PL team thats for sure.

Im not sure the FA Cup would count that much, otherwise I agree though

Yeah he won't be going anywhere in the premier league not sure why it is being discussed, he isn't like Torres either in that he'd flop he'll just score **** loads anywhere he goes.

Also if Bale went for 80 million, well Suarez is sure as **** worth a lot more than that to us so absolutely no reason to sell him, offer him stupid money and get five years signed please if we are serious about becoming relevant again.

He seems a player possessed this season, almost as if he's turned a new leaf after the whole biting, sulk about British press saga. He's looking a lot less selfish and more of a team player, showing now not only can he score, but he can also create for team mates too.

The only reason he won't go for Bale money is the brand image, considering his history, he'll be hard to commercialize, thus being worth a little less than Bale/Ronaldo/Messi

I didn't even know Brentford won at the weekend because soccer centre is so damn slow to update. Likewise hadn't seen Orient had conceded and equaliser so they are now 4 points off the top, considering they were something insane like 15 or 18 points off the top a couple months ago, phenomenal run of form.

Did you see the game, any big changes under new manager, are the fans expecting a similar style of play and team choice?

That's not really any different to how he was last season, it's just getting highlighted far more now people are seeing him in a more positive light.

He was much more selfish last season, I can remember team mates getting annoyed with him not passing when they were in clear goal scoring positions. Henderson used to get frozen out a lot by him. Now Henderson is being made to look awesome by Suarez :p

Wilshere gets swift justice for his gesture:

Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere has been suspended for two matches by an Independent Regulatory Commission.

Wilshere was charged by The FA with making an offensive and/or insulting and/or abusive gesture during the fixture between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 14 December. The incident was not seen by match officials but was caught on video.

Whilst admitting the charge, Wilshere claimed the standard sanction for this offence was clearly excessive. The Commission rejected this claim and the two match suspension will commence with immediate effect.
