Sums it up I guess :/

Still a little sceptical about Gallas being chosen ahead of Dawson though. Not too sure how it will work out when we have Kaboul back either because I think Vertonghen is class and would be bad to see him drop to the bench.
 
just read a comment on the beeb saying Vert was a rock. Couldn't agree more. I went to the West Brom game a few weeks back and I saw it all there too. He made like one small mistake initially and then the rest of the game he was brilliant moving forward, getting back and he even had a shot or two!
 
i agree. vert was everywhere and looks like a leader.

reading weren't good at all but we did what mattered. reading to go down methinks.
 
Defiantly Vertonghen for captain sooner rather than later. Also Dembele will be a great signing, while not quite Modric level he is still fantastic as keeping possession. He is a serious athlete and seems to just glide past people. In addition to Sandro that midfield defiantly won't get out muscled. Spurs sides of the past have been known to play decent(ish) football but have a weak core and role over against teams when it truly matters, it's nice for a change to have a big side with everyone over 6ft apart from midgets Lennon, BAE, and Defoe if he starts ahead of Ade which won't be for long once Ade gets fitness back.
 
is ade not fit? i wondered why he hasn't got a look in

re: dembele and sandro in the centre, i really like it, they both get everywhere. none of them are that creative and we did seem to be playing 'long ball' at times but we still strung some nice play together.

I think we will come to regret selling VdV, he was a great spark of creativity.... along with Modric we've lost a lot. As good as Dembele and Dempsey are, there's a reason we had £20m+ left over from the deals.

Vertonghen looks a good buy, I'm quietly confident of him and Kaboul striking up a well balanced pairing. The King was always impossible to replace but we done a decent job by the looks of it.
 
Ade has had no pre-season at all, played a game for Togo a few minutes here and there that's about it, same for Dempsy who was on strike at Fulham. In saying that I was surprised Ade didn't come on for 20-30 mins. As good as Defoe played today I just cant see him playing the lone striker role, while he scored two today and was a constant threat, any striker worth his salt would have scored today, the defenders and keeper were basically handing chances to Defoe on a plate, goes without saying that Reading will be struggling to stay up this year.
 
yeh if you look at the amount of shots we had, 3 goals is quite a poor return.

creativity is still a worry, i really hope we go back in for moutinho in january.
