Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16 - 21st August 2013]

I do hope we can keep defoe and keep him happy.

Capoue has played some lovely passes since he came on. I like him a lot.

heh job done but not very inspiring from sig. we need to utilise holtby as playmaker as i believe he can make things tick in the final third.

walker and paulinho impressed. chadli looks a good prospect for us, not afraid to shoot. capoue good vision and great to see kaboul back.

I think that was a really important result for us. This is a match that the top 8 teams will get 3 points from fairly easily later in the season when Palace's spirit has been broken.

Today we got a newly promoted team who have not changed much playing in front of their home support on the first day of the season. We had 4 new players (counting Rose as LB) starting in our team today and it showed that they have not gelled yet. It had all the makings for us to drop points and I am delighted that we didnt slip up.

Lennon and Walker combo-ed particularly well today too.

Well, Bale FC weren't very good today, shame Palace couldn't stick one past the deputy Lloris FC.

We never play well against teams who have a high work rate, Bale last season kept scoring wonder goals to win these sort of games for us.

Defoe showing what a clinical finisher he is yet again  That boy is thick as pig**** he will never learn to try and place a ball for the finish. Alwyas just tries to hit it hard.

New boys looking good though :)

I had hoped Lukaku would start but my head said it would be Torres, not surprising really.

The Chelsea bench is looking very strong though. The squad definitely has a lot more depth this year.

Hopefully if he stays we don't rely so much on him for goals this season.

Since 1 January 2013, this is only the second time Spurs have won when Gareth Bale has not scored. The previous game was against Stoke on 12 May.
